Corporate Power and Politics

There is an old saying: “It is not the knowledge or skill you possess; it is about who you know.”
The power play and politics in an organization is all about being noticed and liked by the right
people – ‘the powers that be’ – to be able to get the right promotions and influence at the right
time.
People often say that there is no politics and powers struggle in their organization but the reality
is different. It’s almost impossible to throw politics and power out of the organization
completely. There also seems to be power and politics conflict going on inside of the Chitwan
Mutu Hospital which is difficult to see from outside of the organization. Because of this hidden
politics and power agenda employee of Mutu Hospital are going through lots of things. Some are
taking advantage of it and some are struggling miserably. There should be a balance in the use of
power and politics in achieving organizational goals and objectives
Following are the impact of corporate power and Politics in Chitwan Mutu Aspatal and its
consequences on employee behavior.
Decrease in overall productivity: Politics has lowered the output of employees and eventually
affected the productivity of the hospital.
Affects Concentration: Employees are finding it difficult to concentrate on their work. They are
more interested in spoiling the other person’s image in front of the superiors.
Spoils the Ambience: Politics has led to a negative environment at Hospital. It spoils the
relationships amongst employees.
Changes the Attitude of employees: Politics has changed the attitude of the employees of
hospital. Internal politics do not allow employees to give their hundred percent at work.
Demotivated employees: A non-performer can be the apple of his boss’s eye simply due to
politics, thus demotivating the performers.
Increases Stress: Politics and power struggle have increased the stress level of the hospital
employees

Organizational Structure
Chitwan Mutu Aspatal has very simple organizational structure. There is board of directors at the
top of the organization. Dr. Shankar Laudari is the chairperson of the board. Then there is
administration which has control over all the departments of hospitals. There are total six
departments in hospital. They are Cardiology Department, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery
Department, Anesthesia And Critical Care, Nephrology Department, Pediatric Cardiology
Department and Radiology Department.

Organization during covid
Chitwan Mutu Aspatal continues to follow the highest level of safety precautions as we monitor
COVID-19 in our communities. During the COVID-19 pandemic and now as our communities
begin to reopen, it’s important to understand that when you need medical care, you should seek
treatment. Hospitals and emergency departments are open and available to provide people with
safe emergency and essential care. This can be very difficult for the staffs of hospital. It’s very
risky and dangerous to work specially in hospital during the pandemic. Employees can get easily
stressed and frustrated. This can cause problems in their behavior affecting the overall hospital
operations.
In order to keep employees safe from any troubles and keep their positive behavior Chitwan
Mutu Aspatal has regulated many plans and policies.
 Everyone is screened for COVID-19 symptoms and risk factors as they enter hospital
buildings.
 All patients are tested for COVID-19 prior to hospital admission and within 72 hours
prior to having most surgeries and procedures.
 All staff members and physicians are screened daily. They do not come to work if there is
any sign of symptoms related to COVID-19.
 Hospital immediately separate anyone in the facility who believe may have COVID-19
before they encounter other patients, and hospital will offer testing as appropriate.
 All staff members, patients and visitors must wear masks in the facility (except children
under age 2).
 Surfaces and equipment are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected using products that are
effective against a range of organisms and viruses, including the coronavirus that causes
COVID-19.
 Alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol is always available.
 Hospital follow all physical distancing guidelines for patients and staff members.
 The number of staff members in exam rooms and operating rooms is limited and only
those essential to your care are present.
