Location: Guatemala City
Materials: Timber, Compressed soild blocks, wood coffee, etc.
S

The shown prototype housing unit was designed during the

DVSS programme (for its acronym in spanish), organized by the Timber
organization G-22. This programme main goal is to gather
architects from all Central America to learn about sustainable,
green and self-built architecture.
Bambu
After a 6 month research and design process this was the
module co-designed with the family selected in Honduras.
Several methods proposed by this design were built in a 1:1
scale pilot housing unit in Santa Elena Barillas community, and OSB Panels
donated to a homeless family.

DAYCARE IN THE HONDURAS
NATIONAL FEMALES PRISON
This facility was designed according to the needs
assessment and the evident lack of spaces for
newborns and toddlers living with their mothers in
prison, almost until they reach 4 years(during their SUSTAINABILITY
breastfeeding age). VOLUME DECOMPOSITION
The key objective was to create a secure space for for lightning and crossed ventilation
them within the detention centre. However, it was
required to be a safe and learning space through which
children may feel in a free environment.

VALLE DEL COLCA, PERU
COPORAQUE comes from the quechua word, “Quoto”,
which means “ Plenty of Corn”, and “Rake” which means
“Share what you have or placed shared”.

This workshop was developed to give the children of

Coporaque the chance to have a dignified playground.
The main concept needed to be integrative,
nevertheless, respectful to their playing dynamics, the
EXPLODED use of local materials and context.
DISTRIBUTION PLAN
THE FOREST
By the use of eucalyptus tree branches, wood logs and
COLLABORATIVE PROCESS compressed soil, the project conceptually built an
eucalyptus forest, as the ones nearby Coporaque. The
project was given to the local public school, who
collaborated across all the building process.
INHABITED FOREST Eucalyptus wood is a local material they knew very well,
INTERACTION STRATEGY as they use it to cook and for roof’s and wall`s bracing.

city of Herrera, southwest department of Panama.
It was led by ONEA Panama, ( National
Organization of Architecture Students), to
encourage architects to learn about green

conditions and with local material use.
The closing part of the workshop consisted on the

CONEXIÓN VITAL
Location: Quito, Ecuador.
Proposed Materials: Timber, Recycled plywood, plastic sheets.

This workshop aimed to assess and facilitate the City Council multiple
prototypes to built fast and cheaper shelter solutions. They were assessed
for Early Post Disaster Recovery solutions (EPDRR). Quito is an exposed
vulnerable city, in constant risk of suffering landslides or volcano
eruptions.
The unit named “Conexión Vital”, is a modular wood-panel design (1.20mx
2.40m) that can be easily assembled and transported. It’s built with wood
poles between plywood boards by each side, perforated to connect with
other module when it's needed to be deployed on site, as well for its
stability.
Each wood pole intersection is perforated, to install essential furniture
needed during a disaster, such as cooking table, bed, and storage deposits.

Master Plan
Socialization Process
This was a consultancy project for the
socialization process of the Urban Master
Plan of the city of Ojojona in Honduras.
The Junta de Andalucia, who assessed the
Master Plan Design, encouraged to build the
scale model as an adequate strategy to
inform the community the design final
results.
The model resulted on a 3 x1.5 meters size
prototype, fabricated with plaster cardboard,
wood and glass.
PUBLIC SPACE ACTIVATION
Historic Center of Tegucigalpa
This is a first experimentation project with public spaces, part
of the initiative Naranja Republik, co-lead by of the Inter-
American Development Bank, the public and private sector of
Tegucigalpa city.

The activation was based on the selection of two spaces, The

Brassavola Street and Los Dolores Square, both with different 2

and complex dynamics of use. Due to the lack of maintenance

both spaces had not given a sense of belonging to users and

neighbours, ending up being abandoned and insecure spaces.
