 Objective
Examine Ohm’s Law, one of the fundamental laws
governing electrical circuits, which states that the
voltage across a resistor is the product of its
resistance and the current flowing through it.

Procedure
1. Use the DMM to measure and
record the actual resistances of A
the 1kΩ, 10kΩ, and 100kΩ
resistors.
2. Build the circuit on the right
using the 1kΩ resistor. Make
sure that the DMM is set to
measure DC current.

Procedure
3. Set the power supply to 0V and
record the current in Table 1. Any
measured value other than 0 would A
produce an undefined percent
deviation.
4. Increase the supply voltage from 2V
to 12V in steps of 2V. For each
voltage level, measure the current
and also calculate its theoretical
value based on Ohm’s law. Record
both these values in Table 1.
5. Plot a graph of applied voltage
against current and find the
resistance using the graph.

5. Remove the 1kΩ resistor and
replace it with the 10kΩ A
resistor. Repeat steps 1 to 4
using Table 2.
6. Remove the 10kΩ resistor and
replace it with the 100kΩ
resistor. Repeat steps 1 to 4
using Table 3.
