STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

“Education is a tool that puts one on a fast track to acquiring knowledge and personality that sets one
apart from the crowd. It is one bottom less hole; no matter how much one pours him into it, he thirsts
for more.”

The belief that an education is most valuable when it is used to serve one’s community has been
instilled in me. This conviction and a natural aptitude for science and mathematics convinced me civil
engineering was the most fitting career for me. In fact, they continue to be the driving forces in my
pursuit of academic excellence as a senior. Being a child I was beguiled with the high raised structure
and wanted to plan and make them. As time passed by, I discovered that my career would be peripheral
to the field that is allied with development of buildings. My interest for erecting new structures and
creating new dimensions led me to select Civil engineering as my field of higher studies. I wish to pursue
my higher studies in Civil engineering from your University commencing fall 2016.

I am pursuing final year civil engineering from Maharaja Sayajirao University, one of the most reputed
universities in west Gujarat, that provides best faculties & facilities in this stream. In addition to this, MS
University of Baroda is accredited a 4 star NAAC university. Moreover, it was also very difficult to get
admission in this university as limited number of seats are allotted to each streams. But my aptitude &
proclivity towards Mathematics and Sciences reflected in my performances throughout, I ranked among
the top 5% students in the state and thus assured my seat in this university. Bachelors’ degree in civil
engineering is a four-year course in my university, that gives indepth knowledge regarding construction
work and structural design.

On being a student of Civil engineering, I was made aware in to the world of Building planning, Structure
Design, Detailing, construction planning and management.

During my one month of vocational training after the end of third year of my studies, I got the significant
break of my life when I joined one of the largest and well known construction company in Vadodara,
Darshnam Life Space Pvt. Ltd. Their I got the chance to be a part of design team of several high Profile
project and supervising the site for township. During this, I found that construction field-tests my brain
with a number of different level of question every day. I got acquainted to opportunities were in I could
learn, explore, and stretch my capacity to work & on top of that it involves a lot of fieldwork, germane to
other fields where monotony does not governs in working environment & tasks both. My interest in
construction field needed a certain perspective. I need to embrace the fact that it includes a
comprehensive range of challenges and a boosting factor that something new, unique & functional will
come up in end.

During my schooling and college life I enthusiastically participated in extra-curricular activities. I eagerly
took part in inter-school cricket tournament, elocution, drawing. I always was at the forefront in
organizing different events in school as well as the colleges, as an Organizer of “Prerna-The
Emancipation”, I have garnered skills of management, decisiveness, teamwork, a problem-solving
sophistication and leadership. I got the opportunity to serve under privileged kids by imparting
education under ‘Nav-Prerna’ to them. Also we donated basic necessities and stationary items to needy
students under ‘Joy of Giving’. I enjoy playing basketball and tennis.

The curriculum of civil engineering bewrayed me to various aspects of construction industry & aided me
to widen my horizon. I loved reading Engineering drawing, Fundamentals of civil engineering, Building
drawing, Building planning and design, Material and structure, Surveying, Construction technology,
Estimation Evaluation & Prof practice and Structure design. I believe to gain knowledge by practical
experiences, hence I love visiting project sites.

My interest lies in the field of Building planning and design. I would look forward to learn about-Advance
Building Management, Computer Applications in CM, Safety management, Land development and
become part of reputed university like yours. I firmly believe that if the principles of construction
management are linked with the construction industry, it would result in an overall profitable,
economical, safer, qualitative & speedy construction. I aspire to eminently contribute in this sector for
upgrading society. Lastly, as a Master’s student my goal is to make a direct contribution to the growth
and advancement of the field of civil engineering through my further studies.

I am eager to be a part of the vibrant culture of your university and I am ready to seize all the
opportunities that are presented to me, and rationalize them with my clear thoughts. I thank you for
