lUpazila of Bagerhat District in Khulna, Bangla-
desh. It is a joint partnership between India's
state owned National Thermal Power Corpora-
tion and Bangladesh Power Development Board.
The joint venture company is known as Bangla-
desh India Friendship Power Company (BIFPC).

Rivers are lifeline of our economy. Bangladesh’s economy,

development and growth are directly influenced by major
rivers: Padma, Jamuna, Meghna, Karnaphuli and Halda. Ban-

Matarbari Port is an under-construction deep sea port at
Matarbari in Maheshkhali Upazila of Cox's Bazar
District, Bangladesh. At the first stage, one 300 meter
long multipurpose terminal and one 460 meter long
container terminal will be constructed within 2026.

DHAKA METRO RAIL
The Dhaka Metro Rail Line-6 consists of 16 elevated
stations each of 180m long and 20.1 km of electricity
powered light rail tracks. MRT Line-6. All of Line-6,
save for the depot, as well as some of its accompanying
BRT, will be elevated above current roads primarily
above road medians to allow traffic flow underneath,
with stations also elevated.
PADMA BRIDGE PROJECT
The Padma Bridge is a multipurpose road-rail bridge across the
Padma River, under construction in Bangladesh. It will connect
Louhajong, Munshiganj to Shariatpur and Madaripur, linking
the south-west of the country, to northern and eastern regions.
Padma Bridge is the most challenging construction project in
the history of Bangladesh.
The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant will be a 2.4 GWe nuclear
power plant in Bangladesh. The nuclear power plant is being
constructed at Rooppur (Ruppur), adjoining Paksey, in the
Ishwardi Upazila of Pabna District, on the bank of the river
Padma. It will be the country's first nuclear power plant, and
the first of two units are expected to go into operation in
2023.
