1 Entry inside confined space  Confined space entry work permit must be obtained prior
to start of work.
 Permit to work instructions must be strictly followed.
1-a Oxygen Deficiency (suffocation, faint,  Oxygen level to be checked before entry and ensure
unconsciousness) within limit (19.5% to 21.5%)
 Before start of work proper ventilation system to be
provided.
 Confined space should be ventilated through exhaust
fans/ Blowers 24 hours before issuance of permit.
 Ensure exhaust system to be remained operational
during working inside the confined space.
 Oxygen level to be checked half an hour before start
of work and after every 2 hours during activity.

Oxygen Enrichment (Potential explosion )  Before start of work proper ventilation system to be
provided.
 Ensure exhaust system to be remained operational

1-b Explosion  Explosive limit of the possible gases to be checked before


issuance of permit
 LEL of explosive gases must be zero.

1-c Fire  Combustible material to be removed on priority inside the
confined space.
 No Entrance will be allowed if smoke is observed inside
the confined space.
 Fire extinguisher to be placed out side confined space.
1-d Excessive heat  Ventilation system to be installed.
 Entrants will work inside confined space for
maximum ...... minutes after each entry.
 Entrants must be provided with life lines.
 Drinking Water to be provided outside the confined
space.
1-e Toxic gases  Toxic gases must be checked before issuing permit.
 If there are any traces of any toxic gas, work will not be
allowed.

1-g Poor illumination  Lights of 12 volts are allowed inside the Confined space.
 110 Volts of light/Grinder is allowed only with double
ELCB.
