Introduction
This report will be a report about the vampire diaries. The vampire diaries is a show on the television.
When the first episode came out in the Netherlands, I immediately watched it. I sort of fell in love
with the show and watched it every week. They are now at the second season in America, nobody
knows when the second season comes out here in the Netherlands. But I hope it will be soon. I will
definitely watched the second season as soon as it comes out here!

Facts
The Vampire Diaries is an American television program, like I already said. It’s developed by Kevin
Williamson and Julie Plec. The series is based on a book series, also called the Vampire Diaries. These
books are written by L. J. Smith. The Genre from this series is called supernatural drama horror.
The series premiered in America on the CW television network on September 10, 2009 and it’s now
there in his second season.
The first episode had a bigger audience than all the shows the network had since their start in 2006.
It had an audience of 4.91 million people and this is of course only in America. The whole first season
even had an average audience from 3.60 million viewers!
The show had a lot of nominations for awards and even won the People’s choice award and seven
Teen Choice Awards.
Season one is of course on DVD and also this one sells good. After the series was on television, the
books are really popular as well.

The Story:
In the series they follow the live of an average teen girl, Elena Gilbert. Her mom and dad died when
she was younger and now she lives with her younger brother Jeremy Gilbert with her sort of aunt
Jenna Sommers in a little town Mystic Falls. Mystic Falls is famous for its history. In the past,
hundreds of years ago, there lived vampires in this place. Now a days everybody thinks it’s a normal
little town..
When Elena goes to school with her best friend Bonnie Bennet, they see a new boy. They don’t say
anything to him because he is kind of a lonely person. But in class Elena sits next to him and they
become friends. His name is Damon Salvatore. Bonnie thinks it’s a little weird that he knows so much
about the history, even a lot more then the teacher himself.
Bonnie her grandma tells her she is a witch, just like herself. After her grandma told her this, she
really knew that there were something about Damon.
Damon and Elena get in a relationship and he have to tell her a big secret. He is a vampire. Elena
doesn’t understand it, because he doesn’t kill people and he doesn’t have something against the
light. He tells her he only drinks the blood of rabbits or birds and that he has a ring, because of this
ring he can walk in the light. He takes Elena home. His house is big and old. She meets his brother,
Damon Salvatore. He also is a vampire, but he does drink blood of human beings.
After a while she discovers that Stefan is 162 years old and Damon even a bit older. She also finds out
that they both had a secret relationship, more than hundred years ago, with Katherine. She looks
exactly the same as Elena! Now she understand why both of the brothers are into her. They both
want her, but she only wants Damon, she thinks..
Damon wants Katherine back, but all the vampires from hundreds of years ago are in a tomb. It’s full
of witches their spells and he cannot open it. So he bites Bonnie and now she does everything he
wants. With her magical powers she opens the tomb. All vampires are free now including Katherine,
but she is nowhere, Damon cannot find her. This is dangerous, Katherine turned Damon and Stefan
into Vampires and will do this with anyone she meets. All the other vampires will take revenge on all
the people who locked them up. Nobody is safe in Mystic falls anymore. This is the main story of the
Vampire Diaries. There are a few more storylines in it, about Elena her other friends Caroline, Matt,
Tyler, Jenna, Alaric and her brother Jeremy. Their story’s have also something to do with the
vampires, because Mystic Falls is full of them. Jeremy falls for example in love with a vampire girl
who doesn’t mean her love at first, but then she does, but she have to leave the town.
This are some other stories, but what I just told is the main story of the series.

The main cast and their characters

Nina Dobrev as Elena Gilbert.

Elena is a seventeen year old girl. She is a cheerleader with brown eyes and
long straight brown hair. She used to date Matt, but now she dates Stefan.
Paul Wesley as Stefan Salvatore.

Stefan is a vampire, but he is a good one. He doesn’t kill people for

their blood. He is a good looking guy from 162 years old, but he
always will have the looked from a 17 year old person. He totally falls
in love with Elena.

Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore.

He is Stefan his older brother. Damon is known as the bad guy. He is also a vampire, but he
does drinks people their blood. He also falls in love with Elena because she looks like his old
love, Katherine.

Steven R. McQueen as Jeremy Gilbert

Jeremy is Elena her younger brother. He doesn’t know about the

vampires until he meets a girl, who is a vampire. He falls in love with her,
but she has to leave, she isn’t safe in Mystic Falls.

Katherina Graham as Bonnie Bennet

Bonnie is Elena her best friend. She is a witch just like her grandma, she
hates vampires, but she can live with Stefan. Her hate for Damon is huge
and they have a lot of fights.

There are some more, but I didn’t told about them in the storyline, so I’m not going to do that here
as well. They are important if you look at the series, but for the main story line they’re not.
My opinion:
Like I already said, I really fell in love with this series. Why? Well, the actors are really great, it looks
like it is all real, sure it has to be this way, but not in all series you believe the actors. I think the
storyline is great too, the last years there are a lot of movies and series about vampires, but this one
is different, because they also show the past and in the series there are a lot of secrets. You can find
them out yourself, but you never have the right solution. It’s also better I think, that they don’t stay
just with Elena, Damon and Stefan, but also tell other story lines in it, with relationships and the
normal things and then they mix it with secrets and vampires. There aren’t just two vampires, but
there are a lot, it’s in this series, the town, against the vampires.
