Background

 Adopted from PROMPT II, a system development module for


IT projects (1989) by a UK Government Agency, Central
Computer and Telecommunication Agency (CCTA)
 The adaptation called PROMPT II IN the CCTA Environment
(PRINCE), and it gradually used by non-IT sector
 PRINCE2 (PRoject IN Controlled Environments) was
published in 1996 in consultation with 150 European
organisations. It is a generic version of PRINCE which may
easily implemented in IT and other industries
 The latest update, in 2017, called PRINCE2 2017 which later
named as “PRINCE2 6th Edition” in 2020.
