Introduction
According to our Summer Vacation Project we have to do a CDP
(Community Development Project) and linked with NGO. This
Community Development Project is related course code named MGN
231.
According to this project I selected to teach poor children in my village.
There is a NGO in my place name called Nature Foundation .I joined it.
I underwent for this project for a period 38 hours dated 16th of June 2019
to 27th of June 2019. Through that we decided to teach good habits and
donate some supplies for poor children in Dombagahawela primary
school in Sri Lanka. There are lots of poor children who are facing
economic problems in my place. They can’t get good education. That’s
why I selected this project to help them. Under this project I taught good
habits and qualities for those who under privilege students. Not only that
we donate some supplies (education books) for them to improve their
knowledge. Further we taught them to manage their garden ecofriendly.
And we help them to improve their presentation skill and English
knowledge also.

Problem Identification and the Cause of the
Problem
The problem with us parents is that either they are very busy
with their own lives or they lack proper education, as a
consequence of which, they are unable to pay attention to
their children’s educational progress. Not only that they didn’t
have enough books also. Because their parents are not in a
positions to spend money for education. Though they have
library in their school it is not enough for every students. Also
they have poor English knowledge, because shortage of
teachers. And they focus only for syllabus. Though they have
school garden they didn’t know manage it properly. So we
organized planting plants campaign.
Objective to be achieved
First we identified the problems of those students. And find the
solutions of the problem.

I found they didn’t have enough presentation skills so that I did some
activities to collaborate them.

I identified they didn’t know how to clean their environment so that I

taught and I practiced them to keep it clean.

I organized planting plants campaign to make them garden beautiful

and make them ecofriendly students.

I saw they don’t have enough books to improve their knowledge so I

donate some books with the help of NGO.

Not only that I informed their parents to bring their child regularly to
school.

Effectiveness of the Project

Under this project my main purpose is increasing level of
education poor children of that village. I have spent a great time
period with those primary students and I was able to achieve my
objectives by doing some activities with them. I could get an
idea of the school students. I have helped them to figure out the
hard subjects by teaching English. So I was able to make the
students aware about the benefits of English knowledge and
good habits and also I got a very pleasure by seen that they have
enjoyed lots of interesting things that I have distributed among
them. When I did some environmental activities as an examples
planting plants campaign they enjoyed and knew some new
things about environment. I think they will be ecofriendly
students through my activities. When I distributed some books
for library they interested in using library. So I got a very
pleasure by seen that actually students were happy about my
visit and they have given some written notes and they have
drawn me to keep with me as a memory.

Various steps taken to achieve the objectives

 Firstly I’ll mentioned the objectives in point form,
 Teach the students about the good habits
 Donated some book to the library
 Present them about environmental awareness
 Planting plants with students
 Play traditional folk games and motivational games
 Awareness program for parents

Teach the students about the good habits

Firstly I started with teaching the students about the good
habits from 16th of June 2019 to 20th of June 2019 for a period of
week. During that period I was able to teach some important
things such as cleaning the toilets, cleaning the environment,
worship parents daily, respect elders, etc. during that period of
time I was able to give tips about how to learn in easy way and
my experience when I was young and the experience how I
learnt and give more examples than theory and make them
understand the theory by telling and showing them about
cartoon stories which will make them understand more then the
learning only from textbook.

Donated some book to the library

During that time I was able to give some special and most
interesting educational books for the school library. It included
story books, activities books, interesting novels etc. I conducted
the program on 24th of June 2019. After this program I was able
to provide and improve some special and most valuable thing
about the knowledge and students mind. Under this program I
was able to motivate students for success their future.

Present them about environmental awareness

Next I organized a presentation on environmental
awareness. During that time I was able to teach some special
things about the environment. I conducted the program on 25th
June 2019. During the period I was able to provide things about
the growth and development of awareness, understanding and
consciousness toward the biophysical environment and its
problems.

Planting plants with students

After this special program I was able to give most valuable
program in this project for the students. Planting plants it was a
most interesting program in my project. I conducted the program
on 25th June 2019. In this program I was able to provide some
most special things for the students about the beauty of our
environment, increase bio diversity in our environment prevent
soil erosion as well as provide shade and lower atmospheric
temperature. Under this program I was able to motivate students
for the project environmental things.

Play traditional folk games and motivational games

 In that time I was able to give most interesting and funny
things for the students. It’s became to most special activity in
this project I conducted the program on 27th June 2019. During
this program these games can also be of great benefit to them,
they require physical activities, social skills, creativity,
imagination, competition, etc. there are so many benefits that
could fill and entire program.

Awareness program for parents

After that I was able to give last important part of the

program. That program was most important to all parents. I
conducted the program on 27th of June. That part became to
most valuable part in my entire project. That program provides
support and education to parents and students to encourage the
healthy, positive development of youth and families in Darien,
Norwalk and surrounding areas. Under this program I was able
to motivate all parents for these things.
Conclusion
1. According to my project when I am teaching, I knew that ability of
understanding one by one students.

2. I recognized their some failures point on presentation skills. And I organized

personality development activities to develop their presentation skills.

3. I taught them how to proper disposal waste materials.

4. I discussed about good habits and qualities with them. Also I advised them to
how to clean toilets properly and keep it clean.

5. They did not know how to manage their school garden so that I did planting
plants campaign to keep them school garden beautifully.

6. Through this campaign I hope to build ecofriendly students in this school.

Further I informed their parents to make them garden also cleanly.

7. I distributed some valuable books to their library for their higher education with
the help of NGO.

8. I recognized their leadership and group work skills. So that I gave them to some
small gifts to improve their skills.

9. I could be able to identify what are the shortcomings of the students are
suffering about with the help of teachers.

10. Providing them personality development to student in rural area.
