School-based Feeding Program BEST PRACTICES

The SBFP complies with the R.A. 11307 signed by the President Duterte and was later
augmented the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act. The objectives of this Act are also the main goal of the
School; to address hunger, to improve Nutritional status, to provide nourishments and enhance health
values and behavior of learners. In order to strengthen these goals and objectives, the following are the
DIS School-Based Feeding Program best practices:

1. good communication and information dissemination to parents as well as interactive

participation;
2. establishing home garden with the given vegetable seeds and seedlings from the school;
3. giving of available resources such as harvested vegetables;
4. Voluntary donations that is either in-cash or in-kind given by our humble stakeholders
5. Voluntary services rendered by the community;
6. Unity of faculty and staff for the program;
7. Other funds were being solicited from government agencies or non-governmental
organizations; and
8. Full support and participation of the community specifically the barangay officials.

These practices help us achieve the goal of the School-based Feeding Program. Helping every
undernourished learner for the advancement of their nutritional status is indeed a great achievement
with the help of others.
A NARRATIVE REPORT

In June 2018, President Duterte signed into law the R.A. No. 11307 or the “Masustansyang
Pagkain para sa Batang Pilipino Act” which establishes a national feeding program for undernourished
children in public day care centers, kindergarten and elementary school. It also states that the
government shall provide supplemental feeding program for Day care children, School-Based feeding
Program for Public School children from kinder to grade 6, and other programs intended for Children’s

But at this time of Pandemic there will be changes since learning is home-based. The Malaca ñang said
that he feeding program will continue despite the blended learning approaches amid the pandemic with
the changes –instead of preparing hot meals for the students, nutritious food products will be delivered
to households or picked up by parents from school.

In pursuit of providing assistance to students amidst the pandemic, the DIS SBFP served learner-

the school and the full support of the school Head, Mr. Emmanuel Rex S. Azarcon, and joined effort of
the faculty and staff of Dingasan Integrated School.

classified as undernourished children. The identified children listed as recipients of the SBFP. The
Learners will received Nutribuns and Nutrichips from Division Office. Not only that, the school also
provided available resources from Gulayan sa Paaralan Program to sustain the advancement of
Nutritional status of the learners. With the partnership of Gulayan sa Paaralan Program, the households
of the learner-beneficiaries are being initiated to put up their own garden at home. These households
received vegetable seeds produced by the income generating funds of the school and Vegetable
seedlings from Department of Environment and Natural Resources. The learners’ home garden were
