Course Description
Springboard is the guaranteed viable curriculum used for all Fresno Unified 7 th

graders.  Students are instructed in reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
using adopted texts, supporting materials, and research-based strategies. 
Students read a variety of literature, expository, and narrative texts.  They write
summaries, narratives, explanatory responses, argumentative compositions, and
research-based responses.

Required Materials for 2021-2022 Distance Learning


You are responsible for bringing the following items to our class with you each day:
 A fully charged tablet 
 A pencil to write notes with if/when needed 
 A notebook to write notes in if/when needed
 Multi-colored highlighters (yellow, blue, green, & pink) for notetaking
if/when needed

Classroom Rules of Conduct (ALL school & district rules apply in the classroom)
 Be in a quiet and focused space where there are little to no distractions
 Be logged into our online classroom ON TIME (I will take attendance
every day)
 Your Video screen must be on at all times so I can see your face :) 
 You must turn on/off your microphone when instructed to
 No eating during our live online class time (it can be distracting for other
students)
 No talking when the teacher is talking (Use proper voice levels)
 Follow directions the first time they’re given
 Respect others and yourself at all times online (this includes the class
chat)
Grading Policy
A= 90-100%   B= 80-89%     C= 70-79%     D= 60-69%      F= 0-59%
* There are few, if any, opportunities for extra credit so please do not rely on it.
*Participation will count for 10% of your grade 
*Assignments will count for 40% of your grade
*Tests (Essays) will count for 50% of your grade

Late Work
All work is due on the date announced and will lose points for each day it is late.  If
you are absent on the due date, the assignment will be due on the day you return
to school.  If work is not made up within 2 weeks, you will receive a zero for the
assignment.  It is your responsibility to check with your peers and/or the teacher
about what you missed and turn in missed work due to an absence.  Do not ask me
what you missed during class time.  You may email me about missing assignments
and check for missing assignments on our class website (which I will show you on
our first day of class)

Class Website
Technology will be used everyday in this course.  All class and homework
assignments will be online.  You may go to OUR CLASS WEBSITE to access all of
the sites that will be used in this class. 

Restroom
Because we will be online, it is very important that you do not use the bathroom
during our instructional time. Please make sure to use the bathroom prior to joining
the instruction online. 

PARENT INFORMATION:
1. REMIND APP: During this journey, I will always do my best to keep you as a
parent, updated. One of the ways I will do this is through the Remind App.
This is a free, safe messaging app that keeps families up to date with what's
happening in the classroom and with assignments that we are working on. 

2. After filling out the google form with your information, please visit the class
website to sign up for the Remind App :) or text @kcgrizzly to 81010 to
sign up!
