Visiting Local Tourists Spots is better than Travelling Abroad

People say, “The farther we walk, the wider the view” the more we travel, the more
experience we gain. Therefore, there are people who like to travel abroad to see the culture
and topography of the country of the people. However, the question is, should we set aside
tourist destinations in our own country that intend to travel? Therefore, we must be aware that
there are many benefits if we as Malaysians travel in the country. So, I agreed that visiting
local tourist’s spots is better than travelling abroad.

Firstly, when we travel in our own country, we actually have the opportunity to get to
know more closely the country’s tourist destinations, culture, and heritage. For example, our
country is rich in various natural beauties such as Mulu National Park, Kinabalu National
Park, Melaka Historic City, and Georgetown which has been recognized as a World Heritage
Site by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Meanwhile, the plural society in our country has created cultural diversity in terms of arts,
festivals, and food. In other words, we will better understand the culture and customs of
various races of Malaysians if we travel in our own country. Therefore, there will be a feeling
of pride and love for the homeland. In short, let’s not be like cows that always see the grass
on the other side greener than the grass that is being grazed.

In addition, the increase in the number of domestic tourists is able to generate

economic growth in the country. This, will indirectly increase employment and business
opportunities. For example, the hospitality industry, theme parks, restaurants, and shopping
malls that are synonymous with the tourism industry will offer many employment and
business opportunities if the sector grows. Various career fields can be created from the
management division to the customer service division. So, to ensure that the country's
economic sector is more developed, we cannot rely too much on the influx of foreign tourists
which is influenced by many factors such as disease outbreaks and global security.
Ultimately, local tourists have a huge impact on the development of the domestic tourism
industry.

If we reflect for a moment, we will find that when we travel in our own country, we
can save costs. The reality is, if intending to travel abroad, we need a huge budget for
transportation fares, lodging, food and drink. This will be more burdensome if it involves the
exchange rate because sometimes the country we want to visit, the exchange rate is higher
than our currency for example, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Britain. The advantage we get
when traveling in the country is that we are given more discount by the hotel or the theme
park management. In fact, we can drive our own vehicles to move from one destination to
another, wouldn’t that save our budget. Therefore, if you want to travel, measure the shirt on
your own body because if we travel in the country, we do not have to spend big.

Furthermore, domestic travel activities can be a platform to strengthen family ties.

This is due to the cost of traveling within the country which is relatively cheaper than
traveling abroad. Therefore, parents can bring family members in greater numbers, especially
children. On this occasion, while having fun visiting various tourist destinations of choice,
parents can spend time with their children and at the same time will strengthen family ties
like diving and drinking water. In short, during the school holiday season, parents take the
opportunity to take their children on a trip to nurture the bond of brotherhood between family
members.

Next, tourists also love handicrafts in Malaysia. For example, they will take pictures
such as Wau, batik, woven mats and baskets as well as other existing arts. They introduced it
into facebook and told it to their friends and relatives. In addition, local foods such as laksa,
mee kolok and cha kueh tiaw, mee jawa will also become famous around the world. Tourists
will know Malaysian laksa as we know their pizzas and burgers. Tourists who come to our
country also have the opportunity to get to know more closely the local practices. That is
why, Malaysia is known for its polite and courteous practices and tolerance by foreigners. In
addition, our society consists of three major races but each race still retains their own distinct
identity and traditions. The chinese new year celebration is still a big celebration here and the
government will give it as a public holiday. This shows that Malaysia is the best country to
travel compared to abroad.

In conclusion, the country's tourism sector is very beneficial and able to generate
national economic income, increase the income of the downstream sector which is closely
related to the tourism sector, as well as can strengthen family ties. Therefore, the Ministry of
Tourism and Culture Malaysia and the state tourism sector need to promote the specialties of
the country's tourist destinations, especially tourist locations that are still unknown to foreign
tourists and domestic tourists.
