ECMS Server
Introduction
The ECMS Server installation guide provides you the instructions to manually install and configure the ECMS on a
web server. It also provides the details about the hardware and software requirements.
All the necessary files and resources for installation are provided to you electronically. You need to download
the media from the URL provided to you and then install the product.
The ECMS manual contains:
• The system requirements for the ECMS Server installation, refer to the section System Requirements for
details.
• The installation procedure, refer to the section Installation Procedure.
• How to configure the database; refer to the ECMS Database Configuration.
• The un-installation procedure, refer to the section Un-Installation for details.
• In case you have installed only a few components in any of the Epiplex500 Enterprise products and need
to install the other components, you need to refer to the section Installation through Maintenance
Mode.
• After installation, refer to the document, Getting Started Guide for more information on how to use the
products.

System Requirements
This section lists both the hardware and software system requirements for installing the ECMS server.
The minimum hardware requirements for the installation are as follows:

Supported Operating Systems Certified: Microsoft Windows server 2012 R2
Browser Microsoft Internet Explorer 11.0 and above, Google
Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
Note: Look and feel of the application may differ on an Internet
explorer and Microsoft edge browser when compared to other
browsers.
Database
• Certified: Microsoft SQL Server
• Tested for: SQL 2016 and 2017
IIS Version IIS Version Certified: 7.0 and above
.NET Framework 3.5 or above.
Note:
• It is advisable to have the database on different server. This is not required in the case of a powerful
server.
• Windows and Database authentication is supported.
• The installation program changes the server settings.
• The system requirement for the ECMS Content Server is same as that of the ECMS Primary Server
except for the database configuration where the setup is not needed for it.
Installation Procedure
The on-screen wizard takes you through the ECMS Server installation process. The ECMS Server supports
MySQL, MS-SQL and Oracle databases. To store all the ECMS Server files, Epiplex500 Web site and a virtual
directory are created.
Before using defined web features, the user has to set 6 digit numerical key by using a web configuration file.
Steps to be followed:
• Navigate to ECMS Server folder or follow below mentioned path.
(Installation Path\Server\ECMS)
• Open Web config file.
• Navigate to appSettings and enter 6 digit key under value code for the particular web feature and save
the details.
• Open IIS Manager and navigate to Epiplex500 → ECMS → Admin, to open web application.
• Select the web application folder, right click to display IIS options and select Browse under Manage
Folder. Web application displays on screen.
• Enter the created key under Setup Key/Upgrade Key field and click on Verify.
Note: If you have not defined Setup/Upgrade key, an error message ‘’you are not authorized to use this
page’’ appears on the web page.
Below are instructions and steps for using individually web features.
Setup
• Enter the created key details on Setup Key field and click on Verify. Setup ECMS/EpiTracker
appear on screen.
• Select the radio button of Primary or Secondary Server as per setup requirements and follow the
steps:
Primary Server
• If the Primary Server has selected, select Database Type from the drop down list.
• Enter the database name on a particular field.
• Enter the server name (DB Server) in the Server Name field and select Authentication Type from
drop down list.
• In Database Authentication Details section, you need to provide database login credentials by
entering the User Name and Password in respective fields.
• Select check box of Skip Database Creation and Skip Table/Procedure Creation, if required.
• In System Admin Details for ECMS/EpiTracker section, you have to provide login details for
System Admin.
• Enter the User Name, Password, Confirm Password and Email address on respective fields.
• Click on Configure for ECMS/EpiTracker setup. A confirmation message displayed on screen.
Secondary Server
• Select radio button of Secondary Server, if you want to setup ECMS for Secondary Server.
• Setup ECMS/EpiTracker for Secondary Server display on screen.
• Enter Primary Server URL on field and click on Configure. A confirmation message displayed on
screen.
Upgrade
User can Upgrade ECMS/EpiTracker by using Upgrade web features with a single click. This Upgradation
setting is available for 9.0.827 and above version media.
Steps to be followed to Upgrade ECMS/EpiTracker:
• Open an Upgrade web page from IIS Manager by using above mentioned instructions.
• Enter the created key details on Upgrade Key field and click on Verify. An Upgrade confirmation
message displayed on screen.
Note:
• Install the latest media files, before upgrade ECMS/EpiTracker.
• The users, using below 9.0.827 version of media, need to copy <add key="upgradekey"
value=""/> code in the Web Configure file and continue the upgrade process.
License Activation
The below mentioned process should be completed, before processing for ECMS License Activation:
• Installation of ECMS media.
• Configuration of the ECMS database.
• Open IIS Manager and navigate to Epiplex500 → ECMS → Admin, to activate ECMS License.
• Select the License folder, right click to display IIS options and select Browse under Manage
Folder. ECMS License Management displays on screen.
• Enter the created key under License Key field and click on Verify.
• Note: If you have not defined license key, an error message ‘You are not authorized to use this
page’ appears on the web page.
• Enter user name and access key in respective fields, which is created by the License Server
(ELMS).
Requirements
For 64bit application it is recommended to register HardwareID.dll.
Follow the steps to use HardwareID.dll:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Epiplex500\epiplex\Server\ECMS\bin\HardwareDetails.exe
• To register the HadwareDetails.exe, open command prompt
<exe path>\HadwareDetails.exe /registerserver (/unregisterserver [for unregister])
Note: For 32 bit application, no extra settings required.
Procedure
• Click Install. The Install shield wizard starts installing the Epiplex500 ECMS Server.
• The installation complete screen is displayed, when all the components are installed. Click Finish to
complete the setup.
Secure Connections
Follow the below steps:
• For the secure version of ECMS, It is always recommended to configure the server to the HTTPS
protocol.
• After configuring the server to HTTPS channel, uncomment the secured proxy in ECMS web.config file.
• For password related settings, enable "ETPwdPolicy" for admin login and "CPwdPolicy" for end user
login.
Un-Installation
You can uninstall the ECMS Server from your computer using the Add/Remove Program to remove all the
components from your computer.
Note: You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group to the uninstall
ECMS Server using the Add/Remove Hardware wizard in Control Panel. If your computer is connected to a
network, the network policy settings may also prevent you from uninstalling ECMS Server.
The steps to uninstall the ECMS server are:
• Click Start, point to Settings and then click Control Panel.
• Open Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
• Select the ECMS Server entry.
• Click Remove. The setup initializes and the selected program is uninstalled.
Note: After you uninstall the ECMS server, you must restart the computer.
