Directions: Read all questions carefully and make sure you understand the facts and
questions before you begin answering.
1. Why do some people read so slowly while others read so fast?
There are some people that read so slowly and there are some that read so fast
because very brain has different function and every people has a different way of
understanding things. Some prefer slower reading that fast because it is how
they understand something they read.
2. How can you be a fast reader?
You can be a fast reader by practicing your brain and by doing brain exercises
such as reading verbally and doing some exercises that help you improve the
speed of your reading. You should also improve the way you digest knowledge
for you to read fast.
3. Can you construct new ideas about the text before familiarizing yourself with the
wording of the text? Why? Why not?
Yes you can construct new ideas about the text even before familiarizing yourself
with the wording of the text. It is because, when you know the title or the main
subject of the text you can easily create and construct new ideas because the
subject or main point can help or guide you to make and construct new ideas.
4. Describe the higher-level reading process.
Higher-level cognitive processes refer to cognitive functions that allow readers to
be flexible with their learning when they encounter unfamiliar and novel situations
by modifying what they already know and have experienced based on their prior
knowledge and long-term memory.

5. Do you agree that the text on the reading process serve as an instrument of
better reading comprehension? Give reasons for your answer.
I do believe that images or visual interpretations can serve as a better instrument
in reading comprehension because it provides visuals that can help readers to
interpret and comprehend the texts more.

I have tried skimming and scanning. It really helped me especially in my studies.
It also helped me when I am looking for an answer for my assignments. These
reading types sometimes helps me when I am cramming for my tests.

Why not?
It is important for me to know the different types of reading and models because
it can help me as a student and it can help me provide information with ease. It is
also important to know them for me to know their differences and their purposes
and for them to help me with my studies.

Intensive reading involves learners reading in detail with specific learning aims
and tasks. It can be compared with extensive reading, which involves
learners reading texts for enjoyment and to develop general reading skills.

As a Medical Technology student, scanning is the best reading type for me
especially in my studies. It can help me find precise information and specific
facts. It can help me especially when I am out of time.

I think skimming would be the best and appropriate for my loved ones because it
can help me get the general idea and overview of the things I love about them.
