The movie entitled The Founder is all about how Ray Croc, a struggling businessman,
managed to create a fast-food empire known as McDonald's'. It started with Ray Croc meeting
the McDonald brother, Mac, and Dick. Ray Croc was amazed at the concept of the McDonald
Speedee service system. Ray then suggested to franchise McDonalds, with his persistence, he
managed to convince the McDonald brothers. With Ray's ability as a businessman, he made
the franchising system successful using middle-class investors, preferably the husband and wife
partners. Even though it was successful, Ray encounters financial difficulties because his
franchise profits are too little. To solve this problem, Joan suggested using powdered milkshake
to reduce the electricity bill, but the brothers refused this idea. Luckily, Harry overheard Ray's
situation, and he proposed to buy the land so that he will have control over the franchise. This
move upsets the McDonalds brother, and also Ray renames his company to The McDonalds
Corporation and wants to be released from his contract. The McDonald brother agrees to
a $2.7 million payment, ownership of their restaurant. In addition, a 1% annual royalty was also
added in a handshake deal. Ray then reveals to Dick that McDonalds' secret is not the concept
nor the speedee service system but its name. He says that McDonalds sounds American and has
the attributes of Americans. The movie ends with Ray preparing a speech about his success in
his new mansion with his new wife, Joan. The epilogue reveals that McDonald brothers were
never able to receive their royalties, which could have been $100 million a year.

The movie was based on real-life, and it was so interesting to watch. I liked how the film
starts with an idea like from rags to riches. Ray Croc, at first, was a struggling milkshake
machine salesman. But then, in the end, he founders a fast-food empire which is now known as
McDonalds. What I like here the most is the personality of Ray Croc. He is a risk-taker. He is
willing to mortgage his house just for his business. That's a high-risk, high reward bet because if
he loses, he will lose everything. Unlike Dick McDonald, he is unwilling to take risks, whereas he
prefers to play it safe and settle for one location only. As Joan said in the movie, "Fortune favors
the bold." Another personality I liked about Ray Croc is that he is open to the idea of others. In
the film, Ray would not be able to solve the financial problems if it weren't for Joan and Harry,
but because he is open-minded, he could listen and accept the idea of others. On the other
hand, Dick McDonald was always skeptical and is not that open to Ray's idea. The last
personality that I was able to see in Ray Croc was his persistence. He would go house to house
to convince and sell his product to other people. Because he is persistent, he was able to
persuade the McDonald brothers to franchise McDonald. Because he is ongoing, he was able to
convince investors to invest in McDonald's. One thing that I learned in the movie is that
business is war. Ray Croc won the battle because he takes a considerable risk, listens, and is
persistent. But there is just one thing I didn't like, that is Ray Croc was not able to keep his
handshake deal to the McDonald brother. That's one reason why business is war. In the end,
the movie was excellent overall, and I would love to recommend this to everyone.
