Beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder, sometimes we fail to see the use of some
things. We tend to throw those away because we think they are useless and do not have any
worth anymore but if we only think and look deeper into it, we will see that there is something
worth trying for. Being innovative and creative must be part of our lives, thinking beyond or
outside the box. These are the things that I always reminded my SPG Officers, that anything in
these world is useful and have a great purpose. In this mindset we with my officers think of the
project that have less capital but more of income that can be used to help the needs of the school
and help in the community.
In planning for the project in Supreme Pupils Government of Northville VI Elementary
School we consider the following these are: the project should help in the cleanliness and
implementation of the school, help in the community problem and will be beneficial to the
parents of every student. The Officers list all the problems that encounter in the school and
evaluate what will be the best solution. In the list it concluded that most of the students
answered in the survey is the problem of cleanliness and improper ways disposal of garbage
especially the plastic bottles. After the evaluation and deliberation, the officers and SPG adviser
decided to have a project proposal in limit the plastic bottles and produce more budget for the
organization.
The project is called “Trash to Cash”, you can say that this project is usual to the
Supreme Pupils Government but it is really different to other projects because this is not only
selling plastic bottles or papers but also recycling other plastic and garbage that can used to
supply the needs of the school and help in the community. The project aims to establish an
income generating project that will also benefit to good relationship of parents and teachers
and good partnership of school and community. It also aims to motivate the pupils and teachers
to dispose properly and save materials that can be beneficial by undergoing reuse, reduce,
recycle, repair and recover.
The “Trash to Cash Project” will be participated by all the pupils, teachers and parents
of the School. These project is divided into three categories these are the bottle and plastic
categories, the basahan categories and the plastic chips categories. In the first category the
student need to have many bottles to bring so that they can win, in the second category the
intermediate garde will make a basahan that made of trash clothes and they will sell it in the
community and last category with the partnership in the community project the pupils will cut
the plastic chips and insert in the plastic container if you will be collected 3 kilos of cut plastic
chips it will be exchange to 3 kilos of rice.

“Children are the priority. Change is the Reality. Collaboration is the strategy” these
quote explain how this project address the problem of the school and the community. Every
problem takes time to accomplished and achieved are goals but nothing is impossible to the
people that believe they can do it, have perseverance and dedicated to his/her works. In the first
three months of the project the students as well as the parents are very cooperative in the SPG
Project they give their full support and time to help in addressing the problem of the school.
But after how many months the plastic bottles and paper that bring by the students is minimal
not like in the first three months the SPG think of the possible solution to introduce the adviser,
students and parents to continue to support the project, that is why the officers gave incentives
to the class every quarter that have the highest weight of plastic bottles and papers per grade
level. The simple incentives are the dustpan and dust bin that they can used in their classroom.
By this simply gift of recognition to every grade level they always pursue to always be on the
top. The project addresses the problem of the school and the community by cooperation of the
school and parents to bring plastic bottles and papers to the school and sell it to serve as fund
of the organization to buy the necessary things that are needed of the school to maintain
cleanliness and proper waste disposal. The school know is having three different trash cans that
composed of biodegradable, non-biodegradable and recyclable.

It is important that every project is beneficial to all. We can consider that the project is
successful to the numbers of beneficiary and how the community and school is involved in the
project. The project Trash to Cash is beneficial to the school, students, parents and community.
Most of the students with the help of the SPG Officers became responsible in segregating
plastic bottles and papers to the waste product. They familiarize with the proper waste disposal;
the students are encouraging to bring more plastic bottles so they can have rewards coming
from the SPG Officers. The students are becoming creative and passionate in cutting the plastic
chips and insert in the plastic bottles. It also beneficial to the teachers because the students are
becoming responsible and environment friendly. The parents are considering as beneficial of
this project because they can have additional income in the basahan that the student create and
sell it in the community the plastic bottles that cut by their children can convert to money so
they can have rice that is a big help in the family. Selling of “basahan” is one of the common
source of income in the community. The school is also the beneficial of the project because of
this project the school surroundings is always clean and free from plastic chips because most
of the students pick it and cut it to insert in their plastic bottles. The project “trash to cash” is
beneficial to all members of the school and in the community so the project is continuing.

Great leaders are not just the ones who are well known and having such title but rather
doing something for the benefit of other people and inspiring them to do good things. SPG
Officers are one of those leaders who must possessed such characters and be able to show it
with their actions. They are the role model of where they are and what they are doing because
they will be seen and followed by others. Truly that actions speak louder than voice and
whatever rules they want to implement, they are the ones who should do it first.
The impact of the project should not only limit to the school premises but it also
important that you target the needs and useful of the project to the stakeholder. The stakeholders
are the people that give support and help to the school to supply and give the needed resources
for the continuity of great education system in the community. The parents, guardians and
barangay officials considering them as the stakeholders. If stakeholders contribute help and
assistants in the school, we should give back the help in supporting their projects and involved
them in the impact of the SPG project that will have a great impact to the stakeholders and in
the community.
The project gave impact to the parents and guardians by giving them an extra income
in basahan making and exchanging the plastic bottles with plastic chips into kilo of rice. It also
gives the parents and children bonding that will lead them in helping the cleanliness of the
community and the school. In this set-up the parents are become close to their children by
giving them enough time to teach and help their children in making basahan and cut the plastic
chips. In the other hand, the project also helps to the barangay or community by partnership of
the SPG Officers to the Barangay Officials. The school and the Supreme Student Government
adapt the project of the barangay in the school so that it will also minimize the trash of plastic
chips it impact in the collection of plastic bottles because these will lessen the used of plastic
bottles and can dispose properly. In the project of the SPG, the community lessen the plastic
bottles and convert it to money that can be used in the school. The barangay captain helps the
SPG Officers in having a storage container for the plastic bottles. The barangay introduces the
SPG project to their community. The project really gave impact to the stakeholders to the
parents and guardians of the students and to the barangay officials. The SPG Officers continue
to think of the stakeholders that will continue and add to the benefit of this project, the more
stakeholders that impact in the project the high the achievement the project can have.

The little things we do when add up, turns into a greater one. From planning until it
turns into an ultimate project of the Supreme Pupils Government of Northville VI Elementary
School the success of this project is because of the people behind it that make it possible. The
people that contribute to make this project possible are the school head, teachers, SPG Officers
and the Parents Teacher Association of Northville VI Elementary School. Everyone do their
best to support and active in the project of SPG. Lack of one member this project will not
function well just like our body small or large part of it have a great purpose for our body to
perform and manage activities well. The School Head, Mr. Nelson D Emano became the head
adviser of this project, he gave his full support and he is the one that introduce the project to
the parents and other stakeholders. The teachers became part of this project, they are the one
to encourage the students and parents to bring plastic bottles that will be selling by the SPG
Officers, teachers give their help in arranging the plastic bottles in the respective area in their
classroom. The head of the teachers in introducing the bringing of plastic bottles is the SPG
Adviser Ms. Lea Mae DC. Sillano, she gave her full support and guidance to the project of the
organization. The truly important people in this project are the SPG Officers because they are
hardworking and perseverance in doing their best to continue the project and make it
successful. The parents of SPG Officers and PTA Officers are part of this project because of a
very supportive and participative in the project and help their children in introducing the
projects to their co-parents.

“A Leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way” by John C.
Maxwell. Being a leader is such a hard position you must need to measure every steps and
decision you will make so that no one will be against you, but the reality whatever you do you
will always end up in the things that they will see that you are not enough. But in this project,
we make sure that all the members of the SPG Officers contribute and be part of it, because we
believe that two are better than one. The project improves and enhance the officer’s teamwork
and solidarity in accomplishing this project. The SPG President Sophia M De Castro is serve
as the leader of the project. She always makes sure that every member of the organization
serves their part they have grouping that will collect the bottles in each grade. Most of the boys
are the one that segregates the clear and big plastic bottles to small plastic bottles. The girl
members are assign in collection and listing of the number of plastic bottles. The younger
members of the SPG is divided into two groups and join the ate and kuya of the officers so that
they can assist them, because the team what that all of them be part of the project even they
feel tired sometimes. The PTA Officers and SPG Officers show teamwork in this study, the
PTA Officers informing and encourage the parents to participate and join the project of SPG
while the officers of the Supreme Student Government inform and encourage learners. The
school together with the barangay officials help each other in reaching the aim of clean and
safe environment.

Environmental protection is always the main concern of the environmentalist group as

well as the different government agencies to save our planet earth. In this regard, the proponent
thinks of the ways in which they can help the community, the school, the pupils as well as to
save the environment find a worthwhile leisure activities and generate income for the future
unexpected procurements. Since most of the students could hardly afford to finance various
projects which affect their classroom performance adversely, this income generating project
was implemented. All of the pupils especially the SPG Officers motivated to in this project.
This project gives innovation in the school premises, this develop the talent of every student
that they convert the trash and garbage in the useful and eco-friendly things. This also gave an
additional income to the family by teaching them to sell the product they made, it involves
thinking outside the box especially to the family that do not have a stable job. By this project
the students became responsible in the proper waste disposal of the garbage.

The project will not be possible if we do not received help from the School Head and
teachers. The school head a lot a fund for the SPG Project that called Trash to Cash for the
needed materials. The fund is coming from the MOOE this will be the first and last fund that
the school will gave them, because this project is an income generating project so that it can
earn money if they used the plastic bottles to sell and the fund that will be save by the SPG
Officers will used in the fund of the school and used in the needed materials to make the
surrounding of the school clean and safe.
