Protect your network
Background

‹E-2000™› including the logos are designated to R&M, Huber+Suhner and

Diamond S.A. - if it is not this then it is not E2000

R&M increasingly notices that a mix of E-2000 original and no-name com-
ponents, sometimes under the brand name ‹E-2000›, are offered to a sin-
gle project without being declared. This kind of practice, which is visible to
our business partners undermines confidence in us and our distributors. It
is in our common interest to oppose such practices and try to avoid them.

Only the highest quality standards are applied to R&M and R&M certified
products and partners. With this document, R&M likes to raise your atten-
tion to the above described unwanted practice.

What’s the risk

Established manufacturers of E-2000 patch cords such as the certified
R&M partners or R&M itself follow the market expectations which are,
beside the IL/RL values

• randomized each-to-each IL- and RL-values acc. IEC standard

• tuned connectors for Grade B and Grade A patch cords
• large temperature range to support universal usage of patch cords
(indoor and outdoor

Undeclared products are uncertain to apply to the specifications and could

result in unwanted technical issues during the operational life of the in-
stallation. Next to causing downtime, it may increase maintenance costs.

The risks to implement no-name / uncertified LSH components in high

performing networks are:

• increased installation time (due to each-to-each value)

• increased insertion loss / reduced return loss could affect a network
performance and prevent updates to higher data speed or higher laser
on the network installed
• reducing the lifetime of the network installed due to dimensionally
instable plastic materials (caused by air humidity, temperature change)

What is the advantage for the end customer to use original

R&M components?

In addition to the already mentioned long-term stability of our compo-

nents under all operating conditions (humidity, heat, cold, vibration), more
advantages for networks are associated with R&M connectivity:

• each-to-each according to standard (not measured against master

connector) guarantees plug & play and shortens installation and
maintenance time
• the high mechanical resilience and dimensional stability of our
components make it possible to switch to high-power operation
without replacing the plug-in components:
- Grade C 2 up to 1 Watt
- Grade C 1 up to 2 watts
- Grade B 2 up to 3 watts
- Grade B 1 up to 5 watts
• R&M connectors are designed for optimum tunability
• Support: both R&M’s on-site experts and our long-standing,
established partners are available to provide quick support or
advice if needed
• Source of components is traceable
• Process quality of the R&M partner is periodically checked and
certified R&M plug-in components comply with standard fire
protection properties and contribute to the protection of your
infrastructure

We support our end customers

We recommend asking for an R&M certificate together with your supplier’s

quotation to be sure that you are offered original R&M components.

Additionally, we offer for free to measure suspicious patch cords in our

test lab to figure out the real impact of using such kind of patch cords.

In case of uncertainty, we offer hand to examine the components in question.
