Connectors are an indispensable part of electrical systems,

be it LV, HV or EHV. This fact has kept the connector industry
always busy developing better connectors from time to time.

At Sun electric, the R&D team has brought out a new family
of connectors, the QuickWej. Though the concept of wedge
technology has been adopted in the industry for quite sometime
now, the users always faced practical issues in handling the
existing ones. This revolutionary product of Sun Electric is a clear
answer.

QuickWej Design And Engineering

QuickWej is designed to provide electrically and

mechanically reliable connections with safe and easy installation
procedure. This is a unique category of mechanical connectors
that incorporate a wedge component and a tapered ‘C’ shaped
spring body. During installation, the wedge is driven between two
conductors into the ‘C’, spreading the ‘C’ body, which in turn
places high forces on the conductors for a reliable, stable
connection. The wedge is mechanically driven into the ‘C’ body.
QuickWej, is a completely bolt-less system, making the
connection 100% maintenance free.
Each connector is specific to the size mentioned on it. This
exclusive feature ensures total connector contact in the assembly
and enhances connector performance.

QuickWej Applications
Taps and Jumper connections for bare / insulated
overhead transmission and distribution lines of ACSR / AAC /
AAAC / Copper conductors.
Equipment connections for transformers, breakers, CTs, PTs,
isolators and LAs.
CT stud connectors have been developed recently.

 QuickWej Installation

A hammer does the installation of QuickWej.

The ‘C’ body is placed on the conductors to be connected and
the wedge is held in place, pushed by hand to an extent
possible.
The wedge is hammered inside the 'C' member till the position
where it flushes with the 'C' member completely.

QuickWej Quality Standards

QuickWej meets or exceeds requirements of IS5561 standard,

including short-time current test.
QuickWej has proved to be electrically and mechanically
superior than the corresponding conductors.
Tests are conducted at CPRI, Bangalore and other laboratories Result of Injecting 32KA (peak)
for 528ms. Connectors remained
accredited by NABL. unaltered while conductor was
reduced to ashes.
