Exam(Z) / PART 1 - READING ALOUD In this passage, two friends learn about the world. When Ann and her friend George arrived in their classroom, they were surprised to see that all the desks had been moved to the middle of the room to form a large table. On the table was a huge mag of the world ry) Mr Low had decided on a new approach for their Geography lesson. He strongly beliaved that young children learn best through practical or creative activities “Today you are going to make a modal of a famous building from any country of your choice. Firstly, find a partner, then you will need to do some rasearch. Find out how and why it was built. Many buildings have very interesting stories behind them,’ he told the children fann and George paired off immediately and went over to study the map. Isn't your father going to France on a business trip next month?" asked George. “Shall we find out about famous buildings over there?” ISoon George was poring over reference books and Ann was at the computer surfing through websites luntil they both came to the same conclusion — the Eiffel Tower — the most famous building in Paris. They idecided they would make a model using cardboard, with plastic straws to represent the iron girders. ] The task absorbed them all morning and when it was finished they proudly placed their Tower on the map. Here it joined a magnificent Taj Mahal, a very wobbly Big Ben and other famous buildings of the world.
