Knowledge: Lines play a great role in illustrating ideas, concepts, designs and even in expressing our innermost feeling.
The element of lines are present everywhere.
A line is a prolongation of a point. It can be straight or cured, depending on the direction it follows. The types of
straight lines convey directness and illusions. Vertical line suggest uprightness, dignity and sincerity.
Horizontal lines suggest calmness, peace and sobriety. While, the types of curved lines are concave, convex,
spinal and scroll that suggest sorrow, fear, anger, surprise, joy, peace and continuity.
Lines have magnitude. Some lines may look heavy and light, some are thick, some are thin, some are long
and some short.

Individual Exercises:
Materials: Art paper, colored pictures from old magazines, coloring materials and oslo paper
Directions:
1. Cut strips in different sizes, using straight and curved lines. They maybe wide, thin, long or short.
2. Arrange the strips on an olso paper to make a pleasing composition, the arrangement may be horizontal, vertical, inclined
or curved. Use overlapping to make your composition interesting.
