Tan Xin Yao Nicole was a student from Unity Secondary School from 2017 to 2021 in the
Express stream. She completed her General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level in 2021.

Nicole has a positive attitude in everything she does. She is hardworking and does not give
up easily despite challenges. As a result, she is able to stay committed to her interests and
work consistently towards her goals. She also shows interest and concern towards her
studies and is always open to feedback from her teachers and friends in order to improve.

Nicole is known to be cheerful and someone who is full of energy by her teachers and peers.
She is also a good listener and respects other people's point of view most of the time. This
led her to have a good relationship with her peers and minimized conflicts.

Nicole was appointed the class Peer Support Monitor in secondary 4 in 2021. Along with her
fellow class council members, she helped out in planning class activities like Chinese New
Year celebration, Racial Harmony Day, and Teachers’ Day. Being a warm and approachable
Peer Support Monitor of the class, she showed care and concern for the class’ well-being
and is well-liked by her peers.

Nicole was a dedicated member of the Unity Secondary School Unique Fusion Dance Crew
from 2017 to 2021. She demonstrated her passion for the arts by attending all practice
sessions to improve her skills on stage. She participated in the Singapore Youth Festival
Dance Presentation in 2021 and excelled in leading her team to achieve the Certificate of
Accomplishment. Her ability to be a supportive and responsible mentor to her juniors was
also evident in the way the Dance Club was able to put up outstanding performances for
school festivals like the school 20th Anniversary Celebrations and Awards Night, Teachers’
day, Chinese New Year, school Open Houses, and the Super 24 competition.

Nicole demonstrated empathy and compassion in the way she would go out of her way to
participate in various values in action programmes to benefit others. She participated in VIA
programs such as the Yew Tee litter picking and Volunteering event to pack food for the
elderly. This encapsulates her deep care for the society and desire to give back to the
community whenever given the opportunity.

Nicole is someone who is able to work easily with people. As an open minded and
compassionate student, she is willing to accept any opinions given by her teachers and
peers. She also shows care and concern towards her peers and communicates well with
people of various personalities. Nicole’s approachable and sociable character will allow her
to do well in any organization.
