I got into Software Engineering because I wanted to build tools that solve real problems. I love the process
of identifying an issue and working it through to completion. That was why I was so excited to come across the
posting for the software engineer position and Cyber Chasse. I would love the chance to use creative problem
solving to build lasting and effective solutions.
A recent experience that allowed me to put these skills into action was designing, implienting, and scaling
the backend API for RAJE retail, an ecommerce clothing website. I worked in an agile environment with a team of
engineers, each of us tackling one of the required services in a microservice architecture. I built the Questions and
Answers module. In this scope of this project, I used a wide range of technologies including AWS for hosting and
NGINX for load balancing. In order to test the limits of my API, I created 10 million primary records, amounting
to no less than 18GB of data, and uploaded them to my database. After all was said and done, I met the
requirement of handling 2000 requests per second with an average response time of 100 ms and a 0% error rate.
This benchmark took some serious time and required the full use of the aforementioned tenants of software
engineering.
I am very proud of my technical accomplishments, but I am equally proud of my technical communication
skills. A particularly difficult test of these skills was my honors thesis defense. Ater years of experimenting with
liquid crystal/laser interactions, I was set to graduate from CU with honors. The only thing standing in my way was
a final presentation to a panel of professors describing my work over that time. I was told that the key was to break
things down into the simplest possible terms so that even a layman could understand. The research was extremely
complex, but I did my best to meet that goal. After the panel deliberated, I was told that I had communicated so
effectively they would be increasing my honors category from magna cum laude to summa cum laude.
With my background in drive to create real world solutions and my background in software engineering, I
feel I am a terrific fit for Cyber Chasse. I am eager to learn new technologies and apply my skills in the Software
Engineer role. I would love to discuss the position further, and I can’t wait to hear from you. Thank you so much
for your time.
Best,
