Say No to Drugs

Dear brothers and sisters,

Thank you for coming here today. I have asked all of you to join me in a cause which we can’t
deny or avoid. The reason for you to be here is “Drugs”. At present time, it is one of the most
dangerous curse we have on our society. Every day when we read newspapers or watch
television we can see reports regarding drug abuse. And the most alarming fact is Most of the
drug users are teenagers. We know that the young are the main hope of our country as they are
the foundation of development.

Teenagers usually get addicted to drugs and narcotics because of their curiosity. And another
reason is they are too easy to influence to do many things. Now let me tell you what drugs and
narcotic are. Narcotic is a substance that is taken from plant or others that can cause the
lowliness of consciousness and dependency. A drug is substance for curing diseases. But a drug
here means drug addiction. It causes dependency for its users. These type of drugs doesn’t cure
diseases but causes diseases.

My beloved Audience,
Young generations are the life of a nation. They should be motivated about their career, about
their country. They ought to be a visionary. Instead, most of them are getting addicted to deadly
drugs. A recent study showed that currently in our society most of the crimes are a result of drug
addiction. Can we even imagine that brother is killing brother? A son killing his mother? And for
what?? Only for they refused to pay for their drug money. Most of the divorces are a result of
drug addiction.

Do you remember an incident that took place couple of years ago? An young teenage girl named
Oishi killed her mother and father, who was an officer of the Special Branch of Police ? And in
this killing mission two of her friends assisted her. And do you know what was the reason? Her
parents stop giving her pocket money as they knew about her drug addiction. Only a child
remained in the family, who has no one to call baba or no one to call ma. That that drug
addiction does!
Brothers and Sisters,
Let me tell you about a young man who was a drug addict. He didn’t work but he needed money
for drugs. So he tried to get the money however he can. He never hesitated to take money
forcefully, even by using knives and stabbing A couple of years ago, he married a girl who also
addicted to drugs. So then they could take drugs more easily. When they had no money to buy
drugs they fought with each other and the boy often forced the girl to get money from her family.
Then they had a baby. It was a great pity that their child was disabled. The child had abnormality
in his legs and hands. And a couple of months later, the child died. After a year or so the girl
died. And the reason also was DRUGS!!!

So fellow Countrymen,
Is it too hard to stop drug trafficking in our country? You people have elected me as your
representative in the Parliament. You have given me the right to speak on behalf of all of you.
We have shown our concern in the ongoing parliament assembly about drugs. Our government is
showing Zero Tolerance towards drug dealers. Already we have taken several steps to stop drug
abuse. But what we need most is social awareness. We need to create mass awareness to stop
drug abusing and socially boycott those who are supporting drug dealing. We have to protest
against those people who are related to drug dealing or trafficking. I think if we act together we
can make a difference. We must act for the sake of our children and our country. We should ask
ourselves, “IF WE DON’T THINK ABOUT IT, THEN WHO WILL?”.

So I ask all of you to stand against drug abuse from this very moment. Contact the police station
if you see drug dealing or abusing. If they don’t take actions then feel free to notify me. I
promise all of you, I will be there for each and every one of you whenever you need me. From

now let us raise our voice and together we will Say, “ No to Drugs”.
