ESG Service GPIC Port 2 Communications Error

Bulletin
Issue Date: Withdrawal Date: Data Control Level: B
Port 2 of the GPIC does not poll the chiller as evidenced by the absence of flashing receive and transmit LED's
on both the GPIC and the microboard.
During factory testing of the GPIC at the vendor's manufacturing facility, the test software disables
communications on Port 2. The last step in the process is for the test engineer to check the communications to
ensure all ports are working properly before releasing the board for distribution. Some boards got out of the
factory without this last step being done.
This can be fixed in the field by connecting a laptop computer to a YorkTalk XL via the 232 port. Using a VT100
terminal emulation program you must then logon to the XL. Once logged on to the XL, you open a link to the
GPIC. You then go to Feature 50, Section 01, page 13 on the GPIC and reconfigure the GPIC by entering
e5555e. This will download the default settings from the EPROM to RAM.

In order to reconfigure the GPIC card, you will need a terminal emulation program, such as Windows Terminal or
Procomm Plus and a cable connected to the serial port of your computer and the RS232 port, usually port two, of
a YorkTalk XL or other ISN device. The following will describe the process required for a complete reconfiguration
of the GPIC card:

1. Connect the cable as described above and start your terminal program.
2. Establish communications with the ISN device by issuing the "Logon" command (logon followed by enter).
This will be your primary connection.
3. The ISN device will as for a password (PLEASE ENTER PASSWORD:).
4. Enter "5555" followed by enter.
5. Open a session with the GPIC card by issuing the command "open 0,n", where n is eqaul to the node switch
address of the GPIC card. (this assumes a network address of zero, which will be the case in all but a few, rare
instances.)
6. Enter a password for the GPIC card by issuing the command "e5555e" followed by enter.
7. Enter the reconfiguration command by issuing the command "f50s01p13e5555e" followed by enter.
8. The GPIC card will now be reconfigured and your open session, which you established in step 5, above, will be
lost, but not closed. Enter a close session command by issuing the command "close" followed by enter.
9. After you see a "link closed" message, you will now be logged onto the primary ISN device and may open a
new session with the GPIC card as in step 5 to verify communications with the chiller. To do so, perform steps

issuing the command "logoff".
