LESSON PLAN FOR GRADE 10

CONTEMPORARY DANCE
PHYSICAL EDUCATION

I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

During and at the end of the 60-minute lesson, the Grade 10 students should be able to:

A. Identified the benefits of warm-up, stretching, and cool down in contemporary dance;
B. Performed warm-up, stretching, and cool down exercises in line with contemporary dance;
and
C. Value the importance of warm-up, stretching, and cool down as a part of contemporary
dance

III. PROCEDURE:

A. PRIMING
a. Prayer
b. Checking of Attendance
c. Motivation
Instruction: The students will be selecting their class representative. The class
representative will pick a word written on the card. He or she will perform any
movements that best interprets the word in order for the whole class to guess
what is written on the card.

 Based on our activity a while ago, how would you describe movements in
today’s modern culture?
 What is the best genre of choreographed movement or dance best represents
modern culture?
IV. LESSON PROPER

a. ACTIVITY

Instruction: The class will be divided into four groups and will select each group their
team leader; each groups will be given a scrambled word that they need
to arrange in a correct arrangement. After arranging it correctly the team leaders
need to chronologically arrange those word from 1st to the last.

 Are these terms related to contemporary dance? Why?


 What do you think is importance of this terms as a part of contemporary dance?

b. ANALYSIS

 Why is there a need for us to have these activities before and after dancing a
contemporary dance?
 Given a chance to join in a dance company or any dance troupe, how important
is it for each member to know the importance of warm-up, stretching and cool
down?

c. ABSTRACTION

 What is the difference between warm-up, stretching and cool down?


 What are the warm-ups, stretching, and cool down exercises that a
contemporary dancer must do?

d. APPLICATION

 The class will be divided into two groups. Each group will be given 10 minutes to
create their 1-minute contemporary dancercise using the exercises that they’ve
learned. There will be criteria for the basis for grading the performance.
CRITERIA:

V. EVALUATION
 In a one half sheet of paper; in line with our discussion today, expound the given
phrase “a dancer is warrior of grace.” A rubric will be used for grading the
output

VI. ASSIGNMENT
 Using smart phone or any camera, photograph yourself in a contemporary
dance position and make a creative title for it that best describe that
photographed movement.
