3. BUILDING MATERIALS AND
CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES

ASSIGNMENT NO. 1: Find out why the Guggenheim


museum failed.
ASSIGNMENT NO. 2: List 20 building materials
ASSIGNMENT NO. 3: Find out and write two lines on the
different types of bricks
ASSIGNMENT NO. 4: Sketch 20 external construction
tools. Only sketch, don't colour or shade. You have to
draw around 6 on one sheet. These sheets have to be A3
cartridge sheets and draw margins by leaving 6cm from
the bottom and 1.5cm from all the other three sides.

4. BASIC DESIGN AND VISUAL ARTS

 ASSIGNMENT NO.1: Draw two figure-ground


compositions. Should be black and white and your
original composition. You can't copy from online.

 ASSIGNMENT NO. 2: Using the hierarchy principle of


design, make two original compositions for each topic
under the hierarchy subdivisions.
These^ are the principles of hierarchy. Make two
compositions for each, original compositions, can’t copy.
 ASSIGNMENT NO. 3: Take a lemon, and draw the lemon
in a 6x6 inch box.
Cut the lemon and draw it in another 6x6 inch box. In this
manner make drawings of the elements of the lemon.
Then taking inspiration from the lemon/elements /sections
create a functional object.
The functional object can be drawn on a large sheet without
the restriction of the box.

Take a 10x10x10 inch. Cube. Start cutting or slicing or


puncturing the cube using cube or cuboid form.
All the cube and cuboids that come out through the cutting
of the main 10x10x10 inch cube should be used to recreate a
new structure.

5. ARCHITECTURAL GRAPHICS SKILLS

ASSIGNMENT 1: List the alphabets/elements of drawing


ASSIGNMENT 2: Draw a memory sketch on any topic and
write a brief describing the lines, placement, purpose and
influence. [A4 Sketchbook]
ASSIGNMENT 3: Draw a memory sketch that shows you
waiting for a vehicle (bus, taxi, train, car etc.) and write a
brief describing the lines, placement, purpose and influence.

ASSIGNMENT 4: From the second memory sketch, choose a
quarter of the drawing and enlarge it on a different sheet and
add details to that quarter. [A4 Sketchbook]

ASSIGNMENT 5: On different A4 sheets, draw 15*15cm
boxes and in these boxes draw vertical, horizontal, diagonal,
curved lines (SHOULD BE PARALLEL TO EACH OTHER). These
lines are to be drawn freehand and with gradual increasing
intensities. Use pencil grade B or 2B. [A4 Sketchbook] Circle
your mistakes and write the total number of circles next to
the box.

This is going to be the base for the sculpture that has to be
enlarged and used as garden shade.

preparing the base

8. ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

Assignment No.1: Draw any three furniture in your


house and measure them and write down their
dimensions IN CM
Also mention if they're comfortable or not and if not,
why.
Assignment No.2: Draw ten movable and ten
immovable furniture in your house with dimensions.
Assignment No.3: Draw a live sketch of two building
components in your house that you can see with your
naked eye (eg. door, window, balcony etc) Since it's a
live sketch you have to draw everything you can see
from where you're sitting (eg, the furniture in front/next
to it, the curtain etc).
Assignment No.4:

the measurements as shown.

member doing an extra activity (Eg. reading, gardening
etc.)
