ABSTRACT

Gender gap is still paving its way across technology, engineering and other

physical sciences despite the efforts over the past years to address this issue. To create

a gender balanced environment and workforce is vital to meet the skills demand of the

future. The aim of this paper is to explore and assess the gender gap in the University

of Southeastern Philippines – Bislig Campus. This research circles on the perspectives

of the first-year engineering students in the university and the source of influence of

their choices in career. This paper is anchored in the phenomenological approach that

provides an insight as to the status quo of gender stereotyping in the campus. This is to

unlock ideals in this important issue and how we can work as a collective community

across the engineering field and provide learning spaces that are welcoming and value

every individual without looking at the gender but the skills for the progress of the

community and individual careers.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We would like to express my special thanks of gratitude to our instructor Eng.

Adam C. Macapili as well as our adviser Engr. Joseph R. Paira who gave us the golden

opportunity to do this wonderful project on the topic SURVEY RESEARCH STUDY

ON GENDER GAP IN PURSUING ENGINEERING COURSES AT USEP-BISLIG

CAMPUS.

And also, we would like to thank Sir Gregorio Epis for helping us about the

statistics of the population of the university, which also helped us in doing a lot of

Research and we came to know about so many new things we are really thankful to

them.

Finally, we would also like to thank our parents and friends who helped us a lot

in finalizing this project within the limited time frame.
