Your Car Hire Excess Insurance Glovebox Guide

What is excess reimbursement insurance?

Excess reimbursement insurance provides a refund for any charges made in the event of collision damage or theft.
This insurance is not associated with the car rental provider and therefore they will not be aware that you are covered.
The car rental provider may offer their own alternative optional insurance product which you can refuse.

Why am I offered additional insurances at the counter?

As you have purchased our insurance, you do not need to take out any additional insurance at the counter. Our
insurance provides reimbursement in the event of additional charges incurred as a result of loss or damage to any
uninsured items. In the event of loss or damage you will have to pay the local car hire supplier directly for any damages
and then make a claim from your insurance policy after the rental.

Check your vehicle before you drive away!

The car rental supplier should provide you with a report of any pre-existing damage; however, we recommend that
you check your vehicle before driving away (full body, lights, indicators, all tyres including the spare wheel, etc.). If you
are not completely satisfied with any part of the vehicle, this is the time to say so and, if necessary, ask for an
alternative vehicle. Any mechanical problems with your vehicle should be reported immediately to the car rental
supplier. We recommend ensuring that you take photos of the vehicle when you take it out.

What is an annual aggregate limit?

The maximum amount payable in the period of insurance as shown in your certificate of insurance. Once the annual
aggregate limit is exhausted this policy is automatically cancelled and you are then liable for all and any future excess
payments as defined in your main insurance policy.

How do I make a claim?

You would need to settle payment with the rental company first, and then claim the reimbursement back through our
online claims process. Our claims are handled by Orchard Administration:

Contact Number: 0333 323 0095
Email Address: admin@orchard-administration.co.uk

Extending the rental duration

Should you extend the cover of your rental, you will need to ensure that your insurance cover with us is extended. The
dates on the rental agreement must match the dates on the policy. Please contact us on 0330 094 4330 before the
policy ends to extend the dates of the policy. If you contact us after the policy has expired, we would be unable to
extend the policy and the entire rental period would not be covered.

Am I covered for mechanical or electrical breakdown?

Our excess insurance policies do not provide cover for mechanical or electrical breakdown. However, if the Battery
Failure optional extra has been purchased, you would be covered for replacing the vehicle battery.

What happens if the vehicle is damaged during the rental?

You must complete a damage report and a final repair Invoice must be received for any damage to the vehicle, however
minor it is. If a collision occurs, a police report and case number must also be provided. You must contact the car rental
supplier immediately in the event of any damage. If this procedure is not followed, the insurance cover could become
invalidated, leaving you liable for all damage.
