Friendship with World Enemy to God(James 4:4)

This phrase was written by James to the church. So James is addressing to the Believers in
the church.

So any blood washed believer can become a friend to this world thereby they automatically
become enemy to God.

In the beginning of this chapter , Peter was warning the church about the sins in the church.

You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you
quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.( James 4:2)

The main point what I could understand is that.. people are not asking God or not
approaching God for all their needs.
These people try to solve their need according to the Worldly Way. They do not ask God
,instead they use their worldly mind and ideas to get things done. And when they don’t get
they start fighting/quarreling with people and even go to the extent of killing people.

Suppose if we have a very close friend in this earth, if we need urgently some money, will
we ask the friend or some unknown person in the road. So naturally we ask anything to our
friend first. In other words, whom ever we consider as friend is the person whom we ask
help, whom ever we don’t ask help are considered as strangers.

In the same way, for all our need , we should ask our friend Jesus for his help. But if you
don’t’ ask help from Jesus , then it means someone else is your friend and Jesus is
considered as stranger.
When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may
spend what you get on your pleasures.(James 4:3)

The second point is… people are not asking with correct motives. Whatever they are trying
to achieve in life is for the selfish need( need to fulfill their own desires). So James warn
them that… even if ask God with faith , but if your motives are not correct then it will not be
granted by God.

We read in Bible that Jesus said… Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you. ( Mathew 7:7)

So from all these we could understand that

1) Whatever is our need, we should ask God, and not use the mind.
2) We should ask God with correct motives, then it will be granted to us.

I wrote you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. Yet I certainly
did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or
extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.( 1 corinthians
5:9-10)

So we should not Friend to this World – means we can associate with the people of this
world, but we should not associate with the things and the wicked nature of those people.

“Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?"
Jesus answered them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick” ( Luke 5:31)

At the same time we should associate with the people only with the purpose to bring them
to God.

We should be like a doctor, we should help the sick to become healthy, through the Word of
God( like a medicine book for the doctor), though we deal with the sick, we should maintain
our healthy life with God without getting sick.

Prayer:

In Jesus Name, God I always keep you as my best friend. I will not ask anything to the
people of this world, but I always ask Jesus for any of my Need. I always keep kingdom of
God as my motive in asking anything from God. Though I may live in this world, the worldly
things and nature will not affect me.
