Problem and its Background

Introduction

Physical appearance can include the variety of things. Hairstyle and features play a big

role in the society. It is the new the physical characteristic of a person that a naked eye can see. It

include the things that you can see in the people as an individual or group by their external

appearances.

According to Zaikman Y.,Mark M.(2015) the perception of every individuals

characteristic can be influence by his physical appearances. Specifically, attractive individual are

positively get compliments than unattractive person. Nowadays the perception of every people to

the others is based on the physical appearance or what other people can see by their naked eyes.

According to Lemay et al.(2010).,people desire to form close social relationship with

the attractive ones, because they think what other people said to them and and it can give them a

embarassed feelings if the physical appearance of their partner os nt enough for them,that is why

many people perceived to have a good and beautiful appearance to get thiee desire partner of

who they want to be with.

Physical appearance is one of the factors that can influence on self-esteem or the way

he accepts himself or what and who he is.There is some factor that accepting of their appearance

is very hard for them,because of thr judgement that they can get from the other people.

Nowadays ,attractive person who s more valuable than unattractive one.The researcher wants to

conduct thos study, to determine what and how the physical appearance can affect their self-

esteem and it can give huge impact to their confidence in dealing with people.
Statement of the Problem

This research study aimed to determine the influence of physical appearance on the

self-esteem of the students in Alamada High School,Alamada Cotabato.Specificallythis study

will answer the following questions:

1.What are the strategies of the student to have a good and beautiful physical appearance?

2.Why Physical appearance is one of the cause of having a Low self-esteem?

3.What are the effects of physical appearance on the self-esteem?

Significance of the Problem

This study aimed to determine the influence of physical appearance on the self-esteem of

the students in Alamada High School,Senior High School.

The school.This study could be beneficial for the school to increase the the knowledge on

how the physical appearance of every students influence their self-esteem.

To the students.This study can help students to identify how their physical appearance

can influence their self-esteem sp they can apply it in their daily life.

To the teachers. This study could be beneficial to the teachers because they are able to

identify how physical appearance of the students affect their self-esteem and guide them hoe to

handle it.

To the Parents.This study could be beneficial to the parents,they are able to determine,why

their children has a low self-esteem and help them to solve this kind of problem.
 To the future researcher.This study can help the future researcher to fully understand the

influence of physical appearance on the self-esteem of their respondent later on,and they have

already a background about the study that connected to this.

Scope and limitation

This study will determine the influence of Physical appearance on the self-esteem of the

students of Alamada High School year:2019-2020.This studywill be conducted at Alamada High

School,Alamada Cotabato,grade 11 students will be the respondent with the different strands as

Humanities and Social Science (Humms),Accountancy and Business Manage (ABM),Technical

Vocational Livelihood Home Economics (TVLHE),Technical Vocational Livelihood Electronic

Production Assembly Service.

The participants were tasked to answer the question prepared by the researcher which will

serve as the basis for the data annalysis.

The researcher under the Grade 12 Humanities and Social Science will evaluate and

Analyze data to be gathered from the participants.
