sought by collectors, These
Chinese trade wares were
said to have been used in
ancient barter trade. It was
then used as kitchen vessel
for fermenting liquids and condiments. Its name came
from and are locally known as kamot/kamut jar because
of the scratch-like parallel indentation on the upper
portion.
Gusi/Kamot jar variety- A Philippine pottery used to
store precious things of early Filipinos before the
Spaniards conquest of the old Philippines. These are of
pre-Spanish era owing to it's copper brown glaze and
thick potting commonly observed with same era
specimen. Some experts though believed that early Gusi
jars were being used by 300-800 AD Chinese settlers in
Philippines to bury their dead.
