Summary
If selected, you will serve as the Miami Regional Office's Regional Trial Counsel and will be responsible for leading a well-respected
team of trial attorneys; for overseeing the litigation of civil and administrative proceedings brought by the SEC under federal laws; and
for advocating and speaking on behalf of the SEC on a variety of legal matters and dealings with private sector entities and government
officials from federal and state organizations.
Responsibilities
Plans, organizes, and conducts or supervises trials of the most difficult, complex and highly sensitive cases, which typically result
in the establishment of innovative trial techniques and/or major legal precedents. Cases generate exceptional interest on the part
of the government, the defendant/respondent, and/or the public; often have far reaching legal consequences; and may involve
high-level officials and counsel of the largest corporations in the United States.
Advises SEC executive management with regard to legal strategy for particularly important and sensitive cases. Provides guidance
and consultation to agency staff on issues and questions relating to litigation and trial conduct.
Provides effective leadership in the preparation, review, and revision of all case related legal papers, briefs, and memorandum in
assigned litigation cases. Prepares witnesses and experts for deposition and trial testimony and deals with opposing counsel.
Synthesizes divergent views and facts into a uniform and consistent form for the conduct of litigation.
