so as to preserve the solemnity of the sacred rites that we are
to experience and celebrate today.

1. Our Eucharistic Celebration and the Rite of the Sacrament

of Ordination is to be broadcast live through the Facebook
Page of Notre Dame University.

2. Let us follow the minimum health guidelines for the safety

of everyone. Please wear your facemasks at all times and
observe physical distancing.

3. Kindly turn off all your mobile phones or you may switch
them to silent mode.

4. Official photographers are designated for this morning’s

celebration. We humbly ask you to refrain from standing
up and approach the sanctuary to take pictures.

Thank you very much.

Introduction
COMMENTATOR: Brothers and sisters in Christ, good morning!

The Philippine Province of the Missionary Oblates of Mary

Immaculate welcomes you to this Eucharistic Celebration
where we shall witness the Ordination of our brother into the
Presbyterate.

Priests are co–workers of bishops. They are joined to the

bishops in the priestly office and are called to serve God’s
people. By consecration they become true priests of the New
Covenant, to preach the Gospel to the poor and to the faceless
of the society, to sustain God’s people, to lead the flock in the
celebration of the liturgy, and to offer to God the Lord’s
sacrifice in the Holy Eucharist.

Today we shall witness the ordination of our brother, Rev.

Joseph Castro Nadua, OMI of the Diocese of
Kidapawan into the sacred Order of Presbyters. We pray to
God through the intercession of Saint John Vianney to pour his
Spirit upon our brother, that he may live a life similar to that
of St. John Vianney. May he emulate him in every way, a
faithful priest of Christ who offered his whole life to the service
of God through his people.

Let us join our brother as he embraces the priestly life and

ministry.

With our ordaining prelate, His Excellency, Most Reverend

Angelito R. Lampon, OMI, DD, Bishop of the Archdiocese
of Cotabato; and together with our concelebrating priests,
Religious, families and friends, let us all stand and sing our
entrance hymn of praise.
The Introductory
Rites
When the people are gathered, the Bishop approaches the altar with the concelebrants and
ministers while the Entrance Chant is sung. Upon arriving at the altar, after making a
profound bow with the ministers, the Bishop venerates the altar with a kiss, and, if appropriate,
incenses the cross and the altar. Then, with the ministers, he goes to the chair.

Greeting
In the name of the  Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Ɽ: Amen.

Peace be with you.

Ɽ: And with your spirit.

Penitential Act
Brethren (brothers and sisters),
let us acknowledge our sins
and so prepare ourselves
to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
I confess to Almighty God…
Ɽ: …and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts, and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do.
Through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore, I ask Blessed Mary, ever Virgin,
all the angels and saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.

May almighty God have mercy on us,

forgive us our sins
and bring us to everlasting life.
Ɽ: Amen.

Kyrie Eleison
Lord, have mercy. Ɽ: Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy. Ɽ: Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy. Ɽ: Lord, have mercy.

Gloria in Excelsis Deo

Glory to God in the highest!
Ɽ: and on earth peace to people of good will.
We praise you; we bless you;
we adore you; we glorify you;
we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King,
O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son,

Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,
you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;
you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One,

you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit,
in the glory of God, the Father. Amen.
Collect
When the hymn is concluded, the presider with his hands joined, says:

Let us pray.
All pray in silence with the presider for a while. Then the presider, with hands extended says:

Lord our God,

who in governing your people
make use of the ministry of Priests,
grant a persevering obedience to your will
to this Deacon of your Church,
whom you graciously choose today
for the office of the priesthood,
so that by his ministry and life
he may gain glory for you in Christ.

Who lives and reigns with you

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Ɽ: Amen.
Liturgy of the
Word
First Reading
A reading from the book of the prophet
Jeremiah (1: 4 – 9)
The word of the Lord came to me thus: Before I formed
you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I
dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you.

“Ah, Lord God!” I said, “I know not how to speak; I am

too young.” But the Lord answered me, “Say not, ‘I am too
young.’” To whomever I send you, you shall go; whatever I
command, you shall speak. Have no fear before them,
because I am with you to deliver you, says the Lord.

Then the Lord extended his hand and touched my

mouth, saying, “See, I place my words in your mouth.”

The Word of the Lord.

Ɽ: Thanks be to God.

Responsorial Psalm:
“Be not afraid, I go before you always.
Come follow me. And I will give you rest”

Second Reading
A reading from the letter to the Hebrews (5: 1
– 10)

Every high priest is taken from among men and made

their representative before God, to offer gifts and sacrifices
for sins. He is able to deal patiently with erring sinners, for
he himself is beset by weakness and so must make sin
offerings for himself as well as for the people.

One does not take this honor on his own initiative, but
only when called by God as Aaron was. Even Christ did not
glorify himself with the office of high priest; he received it
from the one who said to him, “You are my son; today I have
begotten you”, just as he says in another place, “You are a
priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.”

In the days when he was in the flesh, he offered prayers

and supplications with loud cries and tears to God, who was
able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his
reverence.
Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he
suffered; and when perfected, he became the source of
eternal salvation for all who obey him, designated by God as
high priest according to the order of Melchizedek.

The Word of the Lord.

Ɽ: Thanks be to God.
Alleluia
If incense is used, the Bishop puts some into the thurible. After this, the Deacon who is to
proclaim the Gospel, bowing profoundly before the Bishop, asks for the blessing, saying in a
low voice:

Your blessing, Father.

The Bishop says in a low voice:

May the Lord be in your heart and on your lips

That you may proclaim his Gospel worthily and well, in
the name of the Father, and of the Son,
And of the Holy Spirit.
The Deacon signs himself with the Sign of the Cross and replies:

Amen.
The Deacon, then proceeds to the ambo, accompanied, if appropriate by ministers with incense
and candles. There he says:

Gospel
The Lord be with you.
Ɽ: And with your spirit.

 A reading from the holy gospel

according to John (John 15:9-17)
Ɽ: Glory to you, O Lord.

Jesus said to his disciples: Just as the Father has loved

me, I have also loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my
commandments, you will abide in my love; just as I have
kept my father's commandments and abide in His love.
These things I have spoken to you so that my joy may be in
you, and that your joy may be made full.
"This is my commandment, that you love one another,
just as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this
that one lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends
if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you slaves,
for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I
have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from
my father I have made known to you.

You did not choose me but I chose you, and appointed

you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit
would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My
name He may give to you. This I command you, that you love
one another.

The Gospel of the Lord.

Ɽ: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Rite of Ordination
The Ordination of a Priest begins after the gospel. The Bishop, if necessary, goes to the seat
prepared for the Ordination, and the presentation of the candidate takes place.

PRESENTATION AND ELECTION OF THE

CANDIDATE
The Bishop, wearing the miter, sits on the chair that has been prepared for him. The
deacon/another assisting minister goes to the lectern for the calling of the candidate.

COMMENTATOR: We shall now proceed with the calling and election of the
candidate for the Priesthood.

Fr. Hilario Asilo, OMI shall call the candidate; then

Fr. Gerry de los Reyes, OMI, the Provincial Superior,
shall present him to the Bishop, who will elect him in the
name of Jesus before the Christian Community.
Fr. Gil: Let Reverend Joseph Castro Nadua,
who is to be ordained priest, come forward.
Candidate: Present.
The candidate goes to the Bishop, to whom he makes a sign of reverence. When the candidate
is in his place before the bishop, the priest designated by the Bishop says:

Fr. Gerry: Most Reverend Father, holy mother Church

asks you to ordain this man, Reverend
Joseph Castro Nadua, OMI, our brother,
to the responsibility of priesthood.
Bishop: Do you judge him to be worthy?
Fr. Gerry: After inquiry among the people of Christ and
upon recommendation of those responsible,
I testify that he has been found worthy.
Bishop: Relying on the help of the Lord God
and our Savior Jesus Christ, we
choose REVEREND JOSEPH, our
brother, for the Order of the
Priesthood.
All: Thanks be to God.
COMMENTATOR: Let us show our approval with a round of applause.

Let us be seated and listen to the Homily.

The candidate returns to his seat; all be seated. The Bishop, with miter and crozier, gives the
homily.

HOMILY
COMMENTATOR: Please remain seated.

We shall now witness the declaration of the elect of his

intention to undertake the office of priests before the
people of God.

Examination of the candidate

After the homily, the Bishop goes back to the chair in front of the altar; still with miter and
crozier. He may either sit or stand. The elect rises and stands before the Bishop, who asks him
in these words:

Bishop: My son, before you proceed to the

Order of the Presbyterate, declare
before the people your intentions to
undertake this priestly office.
Do you resolve with the help of the
Holy Spirit, to discharge without fail,
the office of the priesthood in the
Presbyteral Order as conscientious
fellow worker with the bishops in
caring for the Lord’s flock?
Candidate: I do.
Bishop: Do you resolve to celebrate the
mysteries of Christ faithfully and
religiously as the Church has handed
them down to us, for the glory of God
and the sanctification of Christ’s
people?
Candidate: I do.
Bishop: Do you resolve to celebrate faithfully
and reverently, in accord with the
Church’s tradition, the mysteries of
Christ, especially the sacrifice of the
Eucharist and the sanctification of the
Christian people?
Candidate: I do.
Bishop: Do you resolve to implore with us
God’s mercy upon the people
entrusted to your care by observing
the command to pray without ceasing?
Candidate: I do.
Bishop: Do you resolve to be united more
closely every day to Christ the high
priest, who offered himself for us to
the Father as a pure sacrifice, and with
him to consecrate yourself to God for
the salvation of all?
Candidate: I do, with the help of God.

PROMISE OF OBEDIENCE
The elect goes to the Bishop and, kneeling before him, places his joined hands between those of
the Bishop.
Bishop: Do you promise respect and obedience
to the diocesan Bishop and to your
legitimate superior?
Candidate: I do.
Bishop: May God who has begun the good
work in you bring it to fulfilment.

Invitation to prayer
COMMENTATOR: Please rise.

As one people of God, let us beg for the intercession of the

Saints for this, our brother, who will be ordained.

Then all stand. After putting aside the miter, the Bishop stands, faces the people, and with
hands joined, invites them to pray:

Bishop: My dear people, let us pray that God

the all–powerful Father will pour out
abundantly the gifts of heaven on this,
his servant, whom He has chosen for
the office of priests.
The elect prostrates himself and the Litany is sung; all reply. A cantor chants the Litany of the
Saints.

COMMENTATOR: Let us all kneel.

LITANY OF THE SAINTS (sung)

After the singing of the litany, the Bishop standing, with hands outstretched, sings or says:

Bishop: Hear us, we beseech you, Lord our

God, and pour out on this servant of
yours the blessing of the Holy Spirit
and the power of the priestly grace,
that this man, whom in the sight of
your mercy we offer to be consecrated,
may be surrounded by your rich and
unfailing gifts. Through Christ our
Lord.
All: Amen.
COMMENTATOR: Please rise.

We now come to the most solemn part of the Rite of

Ordination: The Laying on of Hands and the Prayer of
Consecration.

Through the imposition of the hands of the Bishop and

the Prayer of Consecration, the elect will be ordained
priest.

Please remain standing in prayerful silence while the

bishop and the priests lay their hands on our candidate
and the bishop recites the Prayer of Consecration.

In observance of our health protocols, we humbly

request our priests who will lay their hands on the
candidate to refrain from getting in contact with the
candidate in doing so.

LAYING OF HANDS AND PRAYER OF

ORDINATION
This is the central part of the Rite. In silence, Reverend Joseph kneels before the Bishop
who, with his hands extended on his head, prays over him. After this, all the concelebrating
priests lay their hands upon the candidate and remain behind the Bishop on the sanctuary
until the prayer of consecration is completed. (Miter AWAY for Prayer of Ordination).

PRAYER OF ORDINATION
Bishop: Draw near, O Lord, Holy Father, almighty
and eternal God, author of human dignity:
it is you who apportion all graces. Through
you everything progresses; through you all
things are made to stand firm. To form a
priestly people, you appoint ministers of
Christ your Son by the power of the Holy
Spirit, arranging them in different orders.
Already in the earlier covenant offices
arose, established through mystical rites:
when you set Moses and Aaron over your
people to govern and sanctify them, you
chose men next in rank and dignity to
accompany them and assist them in their
task. So too in the desert you implanted
the spirit of Moses in the hearts of seventy
wise men; and with their help he ruled
your people with greater ease.
So also upon the sons of Aaron you poured
an abundant share of their father’s plenty,
that the number of the priests prescribed
by the Law might be sufficient for the
sacrifices of the tabernacle, which were a
shadow of the good things to come.
But in these last days, Holy Father, you
sent your Son into the world, Jesus, who is
Apostle and High Priest of our confession.
Through the Holy Spirit he offered himself
to you as a spotless victim; and he made
his Apostles, consecrated in the truth,
sharers in his mission. You provided them
also with companions to proclaim and
carry out the work of salvation throughout
the whole world. And now we beseech you,
Lord, in our weakness, to grant us this
helper that we need to exercise the
priesthood that comes from the Apostles.
Grant, we pray, Almighty Father, to this,
your servant, the dignity of the
priesthood; renew deep within him the
Spirit of holiness; may he henceforth
possess this office which comes from you,
O God, and is next in rank to the office of
Bishop; and by the example of his manner
of life, may he instill right conduct.
May he be worthy co–worker with our
Order, so that by his preaching and
through the grace of the Holy Spirit the
words of the Gospel may bear fruit in
human hearts and reach even to the ends
of the earth.
Together with us, may he be fruitful
steward of your mysteries, so that your
people may be renewed in the waters of
rebirth and nourished from your altar; so
that sinners may be reconciled and the
sick raised up. May he be joined with us,
Lord, in imploring your mercy for the
people entrusted to his care and for the
entire world.
And so may the full number of the nations,
gathered together in Christ, be
transformed into your one people and
made perfect in your Kingdom. Through
our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives
and reigns with you in the unity of the
Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever.
All: AMEN. (Sung)
COMMENTATOR: Please be seated.

Father Joseph will now be vested with stole and chasuble

signifying his office and responsibility as Priest. Then,
his hands will be anointed with oil. After which, he will
receive the gifts of the people.

INVESTITURE WITH STOLE AND

CHASUBLE
(Appropriate song is sung): Amare et Servire
After the prayer of ordination, all sit. The bishop puts on the MITER and the newly ordained
stands: The priests assisting the Bishop return to their places, but one of them helps the newly
ordained to arrange the stole in the manner proper to priests and to put on the chasuble.
During the investiture and the anointing, a suitable hymn may be sung, especially the Psalm
109.
ANOINTING OF HANDS
The bishop receives a linen gremial. Then he anoints with Holy Chrism the palms of the new
priest as he kneels before him. The Bishop says:

Bishop: The Lord Jesus Christ, whom the

Father anointed with the Holy Spirit
and power, guard and preserve you
that you may sanctify the Christian
people and offer sacrifice to God.
Then, the bishop and the newly ordained wash their hands.

HANDING OVER OF THE BREAD AND

WINE
COMMENTATOR: Our bishop will now present to our newly ordained
priest the gifts of bread and wine for our Eucharistic
Celebration.
Some of the faithful bring a paten holding the bread and a chalice containing the wine mixed
with water for the celebration of Mass. A deacon receives them and brings them to the bishop,
who places them in the hand of the newly ordained as he kneels before him. The bishop says:

Bishop: Receive the oblation of the holy

people, to be offered to God.
Understand what you do, imitate what
you celebrate, and conform your life to
the mystery of the Lord’s cross.
Then the deacon places the paten and chalice on the altar.

KISS OF PEACE
The bishop and other priests present give the sign of peace to the newly ordained priest.

Bishop: Peace be with you.

Newly Ordained: And with your Spirit
The Mass continues in the usual way. The Profession of Faith and the Universal Prayer
(Prayers of the Faithful) are omitted.

Liturgy of the
Eucharist
Preparation of the Gifts
The Offertory Chant begins. The Liturgy of the Eucharist is concelebrated in the usual way;
however, the preparation of chalice is omitted.

The Bishop, standing at the altar takes the paten with the bread and holds it slightly raised above
the altar with both hands, saying in a low voice:

Blessed are you,

Lord God of all creation,
for through your goodness
we have received
the bread we offer you:
fruit of the earth
and work of human hands,
it will become for us the bread of life.
Ɽ: Blessed be God for ever.

The Bishop then takes the chalice and holds it slightly raised above the altar
with both hands, saying in a low voice:
Blessed are you,
Lord God of all creation,
for through your goodness
we have received
the wine we offer you:
fruit of the vine
and work of human hands,
it will become our spiritual drink.
Ɽ: Blessed be God for ever.

Bowing profoundly, the Bishop says quietly:

With humble spirit and contrite heart,

may we be accepted by you, O Lord,
and may our sacrifice in your sight this day
be pleasing to you, Lord God.
If appropriate, he also incenses the offerings, the cross and the altar. The Deacon incenses the
Bishop and the people. Then, standing at the side of the altar the Bishop washes his hands and
says quietly:

Wash me, O Lord, from my iniquity

and cleanse me from my sin.
Facing the people, extending and then joining hands, the Bishop says:

Pray, brethren,
that my sacrifice and yours
may be acceptable to God,
the almighty Father.
The people rise and reply:

Ɽ: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands

for the praise and glory of his name,
for our good and the good of all his holy Church.

Prayer over the Offerings

With hands extended, the Bishop says:

O God, who have willed that your Priests

should minister at the holy altar and serve
your people, grant by the power of this
sacrifice, we pray, that the labors of your
servants may constantly please you and in
your Church bear that fruit which lasts
forever.
Through Christ our Lord.
Ɽ: Amen.
Preface: The Priesthood of Christ and the Ministry of Priests
The Lord be with you.
Ɽ: And with your spirit.

Lift up your hearts.

Ɽ: We lift them up to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

Ɽ: It is right and just.
With hands extended, the Bishop continues the Preface:

It is truly right and just,

our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal
God.

For by the anointing of the Holy Spirit

you made your Only Begotten Son
High Priest of the new and eternal
covenant,
and by your wondrous design
were pleased to decree
that his one Priesthood
should continue in the Church.

For Christ not only adorns

with a royal priesthood
the people he has made his own,
but with a brother’s kindness he also
chooses men to become sharers in his
sacred ministry through the laying on of
hands.
They are to renew in his name
the sacrifice of human redemption,
to set before your children
the paschal banquet,
to lead your holy people in charity,
to nourish them with your word
and strengthen them with the Sacraments.

As they give up their lives for you

and for the salvation of their brothers and
sisters,
they strive to be conformed to the image of
Christ himself
and offer you a constant witness
of faith and love.
And so, Lord, with all the Angels and
Saints, we, too, give you thanks, as in
exultation we acclaim:

Ɽ: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts!..

Eucharistic prayer III

The Bishop, with hands extended, says:

You are indeed Holy, O Lord,

and all you have created
rightly gives you praise,
for through your Son
our Lord Jesus Christ,
by the power and working
of the Holy Spirit,
you give life to all things
and make them holy,
and you never cease
to gather a people to yourself,
so that from the rising of the sun
to its setting a pure sacrifice
may be offered to your name.
He joins his hands and, holding them extended over the offerings, says:

PRESIDER Therefore, O Lord,

WITH THE we humbly implore you:
CONCELEBRANTS by the same Spirit
graciously make holy
these gifts we have brought to you
for consecration,
He joins his hands and makes the Sign of the Cross over the bread and wine, saying:

that they may become the Body  and Blood

of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ,
He joins his hands.

at whose command
we celebrate these mysteries.
The words of the Lord Jesus should be pronounced clearly and distinctly

For on the night he was betrayed,

The Bishop takes the bread, and, holding it slightly raised to the altar, continues:

he himself took bread,

and, giving You thanks,
he said the blessing, broke the bread
and gave it to his disciples, saying:
He bows slightly.

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU AND EAT OF IT,

FOR THIS IS MY BODY
WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.
He shows the consecrated host to all, places it again on the paten and genuflects.

After this, he continues:

In a similar way, when supper was ended,

He takes the chalice, and, holding it slightly raised to the altar, continues:

he took the chalice, and giving you thanks,

he said the blessing, and gave the chalice
to his disciples, saying:
He bows slightly.

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT,

FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD,
THE BLOOD OF THE NEW
AND ETERNAL COVENANT,
WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT
FOR YOU AND FOR MANY
FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.
DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.
He shows the chalice to all, places it on the corporal and genuflects. Then he says:

The mystery of faith.

Ɽ: We proclaim your Death, O Lord
and profess your Resurrection.
until you come again.

The Bishop, with hands extended, says:

PRESIDER Therefore, O Lord,

WITH THE as we celebrate the memorial
CONCELEBRANTS of the saving Passion of your Son,
his wondrous Resurrection
and Ascension into heaven,
and as we look forward
to his second coming,
we offer you in thanksgiving
this holy and acceptable sacrifice.

Look, we pray,
upon the oblation of your Church
and, recognizing the sacrificial Victim
by whose death you willed
to reconcile us to yourself,
grant that we, who are nourished
by the Body and Blood of your Son
and filled with the Holy Spirit,
may become one body, one spirit in Christ.
CONCELEBRANT May he make of us
an eternal offering to you,
so that we may obtain
an inheritance with your elect, especially
with the Most Blessed Virgin Mary,
Mother of God,
with Blessed Joseph, her Spouse,
with your blessed Apostles
and glorious Martyrs
(with Saint John Vianney, Saint Eugene de
Mazenod),
and with all the Saints,
on whose constant intercession
in your presence we rely
for unfailing help.

CONCELEBRANT May this sacrifice of our reconciliation,

we pray, O Lord,
advance the peace
and salvation of all the world.
Be pleased to confirm in faith and charity
your pilgrim Church on earth,
with your servant FRANCIS our Pope,
and ANGELITO our Bishop,
with the Order of Bishops,
this your servant,
who has been ordained today
as Priest for the Church,
all the clergy,
and the entire people
you have gained for your own.
Listen graciously
to the prayers of this family,
whom you have summoned before you:
in your compassion, O merciful Father,
gather to yourself all your children
scattered throughout the world.
CONCELEBRANT  To our departed brothers and sisters,
and to all who are pleasing to you
at their passing through this life,
give kind admittance to your kingdom.
There we hope to enjoy for ever
the fullness of your glory
He joins his hands.

Through Christ our Lord

through whom you bestow on the world
all that is good. 
The deacon takes the chalice, the presider takes the paten with the host and, raising both, he says:

PRESIDER Through him, and with him, and in him,

WITH THE O God almighty Father,
CONCELEBRANTS in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all glory and honor is yours,
for ever and ever.
Ɽ: Amen!

Communion
Rite
After the chalice and paten have been set down, the Bishop with hands joined says:

At the Savior’s command and formed

by divine teaching, we dare to say:

the lord’s prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come
thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread

and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us
and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
With hands extended, the Bishop alone continues, saying:

Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil,

graciously grant peace in our days,
that, by the help of your mercy,
we may be always free from sin
and safe from all distress,
as we await the blessed hope
and the coming of our savior Jesus Christ.
Ɽ: For the kingdom, the power and the glory
are yours now and for ever.

Sign of peace
The Bishop, with hands extended, says:

Lord Jesus Christ,

who said to your Apostles:
“Peace I leave you, my peace I give you.”
Look not on our sins,
but on the faith of your Church,
and graciously grant her peace and unity
in accordance with your will.
Who live and reign forever and ever.
Ɽ: Amen.

The peace of the Lord be with you always.

Ɽ: And with your Spirit.

Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

The newly ordained Priest may go to his parents to give them the sign of peace.

Fraction of the bread

Breaking the bread, the Bishop says:

May the mingling of the Body and Blood

of our Lord Jesus Christ bring eternal life
to us who receive it.

Agnus dei
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,
Have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,
Have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,
Grant us peace.

Personal preparation of the

priest
The Bishop with hands joined, says quietly:

May the receiving of your Body and Blood,

Lord Jesus Christ, not bring me to judgment
and condemnation, but through your loving mercy be
for me protection in mind and body
and a healing remedy.
Then the Bishop genuflects, takes the host, holding it slightly raised above the chalice, while facing
the people, says aloud:

Behold the Lamb of God,

behold Him who takes away
the sins of the world.
Blessed are those who are called
to the supper of the Lamb.

Ɽ: Lord, I am not worthy

that you should enter under my roof
but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

Communion
The body of Christ.
Ɽ: Amen.

The parents and relatives of the newly ordained Priest may receive Communion under both kinds.
After Communion, the newly ordained purifies the vessels. While the purification is being carried
out, the Priest says:

What has passed our lips as food, O Lord,

may we possess in purity of heart,
that what has been given to us in time
may be our healing for eternity.

Prayer after communion

Let us pray.

May the divine sacrifice

we have offered and received, O Lord,
give new life to your Priests
and to all your servants,
that, united to you in unfailing love,
they may receive the grace
of giving worthy service to your majesty.
Through Christ our Lord.
Ɽ: Amen.
