1. Homologation
The anchoring device Securope has been tested and approved by Apave according to standard EN
795:2012 type C and CEN/TS16415:2013

CE type examination N° 0082/1084/160/04/0116.

The main specifications are:

- Number of users 4.
- Distance between two anchors 12 m.
- Tested in curves 90°.
- Energy absorbing devices build in intermediate and end anchors.
- No deformation of the anchors after a fall.
- Rigging on cold deck.
- Maximum slope of 15°

The fixing assembly LDV023 has been tested by the laboratory NORISKO to confirm the tensile
strength given by Fallprotec.

2. Fixing assembly on cold deck

2.1. Strength of the fixing assembly
A competent person will check the strength of the structure in relationship with forces transmitted by
the end and intermediate anchors when a fall is stopped. Fallprotec makes software available,
approved by Apave, which works out the forces in accordance with the site configuration and the
number of users.
The components of the Securope line withstand without permanent deformation the forces indicated
to table 1 and present a safety coefficient of two. The forces calculated by the software must be lower
than the allowable forces. If you note a force beyond the allowable force it will be necessary to
change one or more parameters of calculation, either to decrease the number of users or to
decrease the distance between two anchors.
Fallprotec has designed fixing assemblies to allow the fixing of Securope life line on cold deck. Cold
deck consists of corrugated metal sheets fixed on purlins.

The force applying on end anchors should be ≤ 11 kN for a thickness ≥0,63 mm and ≤8 kN for a
thickness = 0,50 mm. To fulfil this requirement, it is necessary to limit the number of users attached
on the line, to reduce the span between two anchors and to install an energy absorber on one end
anchor. For example, Table 2 defines the parameters to be observed for a lifeline installed on cold
deck with a metal sheet thickness of 0.5 mm

A great amount of tests was carried out on various corrugated metal sheet, the minimum pull out
force measured on:
- 0,63 mm thickness metal sheet was above 22 kN for the fixing assembly LDV023 and 12
KN for the fixing assembly LDV036,
- 0,50 mm thickness metal sheet was above 16 kN for the fixing assembly LDV023, LDV036
being too weak for this metal sheet thickness.

2.2. Configuration of lifeline on cold deck

The fixing assembly consists of:
- The end or intermediate anchors.
- The bent plate in stainless steel, one model LDV023 for the end anchors and curves and
one model LDV036 for the intermediate anchors.
- 16 or 8 fasteners, according to the plate’s model.
- Waterproofing tape.

The distance between two anchors is between 1 m and the maximum value allowed by the
calculation, refer to chapter 3.1

2.3. The bent plates

The bent plates ensure a homogeneous distribution of the forces on the roof.
The plates are in stainless steel AISI304 having a thickness of 3 mm, and an engraving marking
including the standard number EN795 class C, a batch number, the icon “reading the manual” and
the company logo.
The dimensions for LDV023 are 360x360x3 mm; and for LDV036 are 360x200x3 mm.
If the fixing assembly is installed on a 0,50 mm metal sheet, only the big plate LDV023 may be used
for both end and intermediate anchors.
The bent plate should match the corrugation of the metal sheet, in standard the pitch length varies
from 210 to 333 mm. For special project Fallprotec can supply bent plates with other pitch lengths.

2.5. The fasteners

Fixing of the bent plate on roof is by self-drilling fasteners; it is forbidden to use other fasteners than
those supplied by Fallprotec.
The number of fasteners depends of the bent plate’s model. A table shows the pull out force of a
screw according to different parameters.

2.6. Waterproofing tape

A waterproofing tape is delivered with the
fixing assembly which is positioned below
the 2 lines of fasteners.

2.7. Switch
Fallprotec has designed a switch for Securope lifeline. There can be four branches (LDV135,
intersection of two lines) or 3 branches (LDV136, intersection of three lines). The switch manufactured
in stainless steel, has a base on which are placed 4 fixed anchors. An anchor, located in the center
allows 360 ° rotation for the glider to change direction.

3. Tensioning the cable

We treat an example:
1. Forming by hand the curve “B” and crimping directly onto anchor ② or ③if LDV076 is not
used.

2. Tensioning by hand section “A” with the method “cable deformation” below and crimp the cable
on the anchor ①.

3. Tensioning by hand section “C” with the method “cable deformation” below and crimp the cable
on the anchor ④.

4. Forming by hand curve « D ». Crimp the anchor ⑤.

5. Tensioning by hand section “E” with the method “cable deformation” below and crimp the cable
on the anchor ⑥.

6. Tensioning section « F ». The tensioning tool is fitted on the following anchor, to put the cable
in tension with a maximal force of 1,0 kN and to crimp the 100mm ring.

7. If the section «E-F» makes more than 50 m, it is necessary to crimp both sides of LDV043
every 50 m.

4. Fall Clearance
The installation must be done so that in case of a fall no equipment touches a sharp edge or
something that can damage it.

The minimum clearance must be superior of the height of fall so that a falling user don’t hit an
obstacle during the fall.
The height of fall is the sum of the terms given below :
- DDeflection : the deflection of the rigid anchor line
- HSafety : safety distance (1m)
- Fall clearanceRequired : minimal height calculated and required in case of a fall
- Fall clearanceAvailable : actual height available between the path and the first obstacle
- LPath : distance from the rigid anchor line to the edge
- LLanyard : lenght of the lanyard (< 2m)
- LAbsorber : deployment of the energy absorption system (< 0,8m)
- HUser : user’s height

5. Warning plate
An identification plate is installed near to the zone where the users attach themselves to the line.
Our web portal Fallprotec Assistant generates the plate. It can be printed on a sticker provided by
Fallprotec (climate proof). The commissioning date must be on the warning plate.
