General

May you live as long as you want and never want as long as you live.

May the luck of the Irish

Lead to happiest heights
And the highways you travel
Be lined with green lights.

Here’s to the land of the Shamrock so green.

Here’s to each lad and his darling Colleen.
Here’s to the ones we love dearest and most,
And may God save Old Ireland; that’s an Irishman’s toast.

Merry met, and merry part,

I drink to thee with all my heart.

Here’s a toast to your enemies’ enemies!

Health & Prosperity

A toast to your coffin: May it be made of a hundred-year-old oak, and may we plant that tree tomorrow.

May the saddest days of your future be no worse than the happiest days of your past.
(OR: May the best day of your past be the worst day of your future).

May God in his wisdom and infinite love

Look down on you always from Heaven above.
May he send you salvation, contentment, and peace,
And may all of your blessings forever increase.

Parting

May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and
rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

May you have warm words on a cold evening, a full moon on a dark night, and a smooth road all the way to your door.

Funny

A long life and a merry one.

A quick death and an easy one.
A pretty girl and an honest one.
A cold beer, and another one!

Relationships

May you and your spouse look back fifty years from now and agree that today was the worst day of your married life.

I have known many, and liked just a few, but loved only one – and this toast is to you!

There are good ships and wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea.
But the best ships are friendships,
And may ours always be!

Here’s to a sweetheart, a bottle, and a friend:

The first beautiful, the second full, and the last ever faithful.

May your home always be too small to hold all of your friends.

May the hinges of our friendship never grow rusty.

Spiritual Life

May the Good Lord give you the power to grasp the depth of the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses
knowing – that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. (Eph. 3)

May the grass grow long on the road to Hell for want of use.

May you get all your wishes but one, for to make Heaven all the sweeter.
