A.BEHAVIOURAL OBJECTIVES (Cognitive, Affective and Psychomotor)


At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

i. List the different information ages and their features.


ii. Explain the meaning of technology
iii. State the present information age

B.INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS:

Computer system, computer studies text book, and projector.

C.PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE:

Students are familiar with the computer system and its peripheral devices.

D.CONTENT:

1 Developments in information ages and their features

E.INTRODUCTION:

Information technology has been around for a long time because there were always ways of
communicating through technology available at some point in time. However, it is important to
learn about how we got to the point we are at with technology today.

F.PRESENTATION (Step by step exposition of the material)

Step 1: What Is Technology?

Technology is the technical means or method used by people to improve their lives and
environment.

Step 2: Developments in information ages and their features.


Through the ages, technology has developed just as humans have also developed. Trends in
technological developments are highlighted below;

1. The Stone Age

2. The Bronze Age

3. The Iron Age

G.CONTEXTUALIZATION (of the material of the classroom situation):

The teacher uses the computer system, computer laboratory and its facilities to explain the
topic.
H.STUDENTS’ ENGAGEMENT IN THE LESSON

The students are engaged with identifying the different information ages and their features.

I.REVIEW (by teachers and students of familiar materials):


1. How has technology impacted on our environment?

2. How can you differentiate between the Iron Age and the Bronze Age?

QUESTIONS:

1. List and identify the different technological ages?

2. Define technology in simple terms.

3. State 3 differences between Bronze Age and Iron Age.

Technology is a technical means by which people improve their lives and environment. The
technological ages include: Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, middle age, industrial age,
electronic age and computer age.

Step 1: What Is Technology?

Technology is the technical means or method used by people to improve their lives and
environment.

Step 2: Developments in information ages and their features.


Through the ages, technology has developed just as humans have also developed. Trends in
technological developments are highlighted below;

1. The Stone Age


The Stone Age began over 2 million years ago and was experienced in Asia, Africa and Europe.
The Stone Age was an ancient time period when people made tools from stone.
Fire, stone tools and weapons, and clothing were technological developments of major
importance during this period.

2. The Bronze Age


The Bronze Age was a period of time between 1800 BC and 2000 BC when bronze was used
widely to make tools, weapons, and other implements.
The Bronze Age succeeds the Copper age
Bronze is a mixture of copper and tin, creating a stronger substance.

3. The Iron Age


The Iron Age began around 1200BC and it was a primitive technological period. The Iron Age
involved the adoption of iron smelting technology.
The Iron Age generally replaced bronze, and made it possible to produce stronger, cheaper and
lighter tools.
