There are two kinds of spare parts you will need for
your generator: The tailor made ones and the
standard ones. Both are critical parts if a break
down occurs, but as the tailor made parts will be
designed to fit, the standard ones may require a
new design and modification since they may have
changed since the original installation.
The common problem if no spare parts are
available is that outage increases dramatically, and
the cost of manufacturing, replacement and
modification increases due to a short delivery time.
Sometimes a temporary repair is the only
solution, and the problem will be dealt with later
during a planned outage.
One problem solved twice is not a good solution,
but may be the only way if no spare parts exist.
So being prepared by keeping a proper selection
of spare parts stored and available will save costs
many times in the future.
