X-Station OS 3.0.

Before sending the new OS to the X Station, the latest Novation USB drivers must
be installed. The latest drivers for both Mac and PC are available at:

http://www.novationmusic.com/downloads.asp?productid=1&type=1

To send the upgrade files to the X-Station you will need to use a program capable of
sending sysex data from your computer to the X-Station. The following are free to
download and the upgrade instructions refer to these programs:

PC - MIDI-OX - http://www.midiox.com/
Mac - SysEx Librarian - http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/

Download and install the appropriate program and then follow these steps to
upgrade the X-Station OS:

PC

1. Connect the X-Station to your computer via USB, turn it on and run MIDI-OX.

2. In MIDI-OX select 'MIDI Devices' from the 'Options' menu and set the X-Station
as the MIDI output, then click 'OK'.

3. Get the X-Station ready to receive the OS file by pressing the 'global' button to
enter the global menu, scroll up to the 'New O/S from USB, Press Write...' page, then
press 'write' so that the display shows 'WAITING NEW O/S'.

4. In MIDI-OX select 'Send->Sysex File' from the 'Actions' menu and select the file
'XS3003 OS.syx', then click OK.

5. Once it has finished sending to the X-Station quit MIDI-OX, turn the X-Station off
and then on again and then re-launch MIDI-OX.

6. Press the 'global' button on the X-Station to enter the global menu and scroll to
the 'Memory Protect' page. Set this to off and then press the 'play/synth' button to
return to controller mode (make sure the unit is not in synth mode).

7. In MIDI-OX, select 'Send->Sysex File' from the 'Actions' menu and select the file
'Synth Templates 41+42 XS3002.syx', then click OK.

Mac

1. Connect the X-Station to your computer via USB, turn it on and run SysEx
Librarian.

2. Drag the 'XS3003 OS' and 'Synth Templates 41+42 XS3002' files in this folder
onto the SysEx Librarian window.

3. Select 'XStation' from the drop-down menu at the top of the SysEx Librarian
window.

4. Get the X-Station ready to receive the OS file by pressing the 'global' button to
enter the global menu, scroll up to the 'New O/S from USB, Press Write...' page, then
press 'write' so that the display shows 'WAITING NEW O/S'.

5. Highlight the 'XS3003 OS' file in the list by clicking once on it, then click the play
icon in SysEx Librarian to send the OS update to the unit.

6. Once it has finished sending to the X-Station quit SysEx Librarian, turn the X-
Station off and then on again and then re-launch SysEx Librarian.

7. Press the 'global' button on the X-Station to enter the global menu and scroll to
the 'Memory Protect' page. Set this to off and then press the 'play/synth' button to
return to controller mode (make sure the unit is not in synth mode).

8. Select 'XStation' from the drop-down menu at the top of the SysEx Librarian
window.

9. Highlight the 'Synth Templates 41+42 XS3002' file in the list by clicking once on it
then click the play icon in SysEx Librarian to send the synth template update to the
unit.
