KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOOM MANAGEMENT PLAN

Planning is one of the tools to make one's objectives attainable. In this case of having a classroom management plan is a big help to a lot

of considerations special that I am handling Kindergarteners. With proper planning and of course implementation of the plan will ensure

conduciveness of learning among the pupils, give out the most safety environment, can eliminate behavioural problems of the young children ( if

not totally eliminated, at least be minimized) and it improves learning process.

Classroom Management Plan does not limit to the policies or regulations or the teacher's process on how to run the class, but it involves

concrete planning on the proper arrangement of a classroom so to make the children feel at ease and free in doing things they like to do that help

them to discover and explore the learnings they need to achieve at a very age.

 Philosophical Statement

Being a Kindergarten teacher requires a lot of patience, extra effort on getting along with the children and the best mood every day. These

are just few but it would be hard if one does not feel the commitment and passion to teach these young kids. With that, I always ensure to myself

that I can carry out a day's meeting with the Kindergarteners without a single child crying or being hurt.
These children are meant to be taught for them to learn not for them to study lengthy notes on ABCs or numbers. They need to have

meaningful experiences on their own. They need to explore the environment and what is in it. Eventually, one will be surprised to know as to how,

where and when do those children learn things on their own. Is it fulfilling, isn't it? Yes, indeed, it is.

 Room Arrangement

With regard to my ideal classroom arrangement, I prefer to have a real one out of Jean Marzollo's Kindergarten classroom design. (Please

refer to the attached classroom design at the last page.)

The classroom based on the plan is field with centers that will help develop a child's different skills and intelligence. It is set with

Math/Science Center, Writing Center, Art Center, Game Center, Computer Center, Drama Center, Listening Center, Library Center and even

Publishing Center. These really allow the children to explore and discover more of his/her potentials.

I consider this plan as an ideal one to adapt since it shows near to perfection set up and it can not be left behind the 21 st century education

set up.

 Classroom Rules
Only one rule is what I kept on showing to the children: "Respect one another."

This means so much if a child knows how to be responsible in giving respect to others, because in return, he/she can gain out of it. In this write

up, I no longer state it one after each since, everything follows after respect, though, I specified deeds of the kindergarteners which show respect.

It is no longer an ideal for them to be punished by the teacher once they commit a mistake, like letting them be encarcinated inside the

disciplinarian's or principal's office, instead, talking to them about why what they did was wrong is much more appreciative to the children and

will give the teacher an assurance that they will remember the bad effect of the mistakes made.

Although I only mentioned one sentence for the classroom rules, but I will make it sure that the children will be involved in discussing

about it.

 Classroom Procedures

Having a classroom procedure for a teacher to be applied to the pupils is healthy. I have in mind that it is better to have the children be

familiar with classroom procedures as early as Kindergarten age.

Consistency is needed when it comes to implementing Classroom Procedures to the children. In my classroom, I need to be consistent on

procedures on how they maintain cleanliness, how they are going to keep their things in tact right after in each activity, etc. I rarely give them

assignments because considering their age, only few can make it successfully, it is better done inside the classroom.

 Positive Reinforcement

According to Amy Morin, in her online blog:"Ways to Effectively Promote Good Behavior", "Whenever a child exhibits a behavior, there

are either positive or negative consequences that result. If a child receives a negative consequence, like time-out, he’s less likely to repeat that

behavior again.", it is quite true for the children because they have only sensed that the teacher only recognizes the negative behaviour she/he is

showing. Reversely, if the teacher reinforce the positive behaviour out of the negative behaviour the child is doing, for instance, the child rips off

his classmate's paper, instead of sending him off to a time-out, it is better not to and encouraging him to fight back the bad deed he has when he

tore his classmate's paper by not doing it again, and if he agrees, give him a compliment like praising him or simply by giving him a high-five.
