1. Objective:

This work procedure narrates the guidelines for carrying out Construction of Acid Proof
Lining.

1. Applicability :

This procedure is applicable for GNFC, TDI- DAHEJ PROJECT.

2. Reference Document:

(i) Technical Order Specifications (TOS).

(ii) Quality Assurance Plan (QAP).
(iii) Working drawings

3. A-Equipment:

Brick Cutter Machine.

3. B-Instrument:

Theodolite, Leveling Instrument (with Calibration Certificate).

4. Responsibility:

(i) The Principle Contractor shall be responsible for the overall implementation of this procedure.
(ii) All FE”s will collect the drg. From FDC released by Home Engineer Office for construction of
concern work. He will study the entire drg. Execution point of view and settled the query if any
through FQC/QAM/CM.

5. Raw Material Testing:

Raw Material shall meet as per IS Criteria & T.O.S or otherwise specified. All Test Records
shall be recorded in hard copy with consultants.

 Layout the execution area as per drawing.

 Level shall be check by leveling instruments on R.C.C surface.

 Surface Preparation :

 Area for construction of Acid Proof Lining shall be leveled before execution.
 If any undulation of R.C.C surface observed, require chipping to get required surface.
 Cleaning shall be done by brush to remove dust partials.
 After cleaning the surface shall be check by visual inspection at site.

 METHOD OF APPLICATION OF ACID PROOF LINING

 Application of Bitumen based primer shall be done after surface cleaning.

 Application of Mastic Compound shall be done after application of Primer.
 Thickness of Mastic Compound shall be apply as per mentioned in drawing or
specification.
 The shape & size of the AR Bricks shall be approved or otherwise specified.
 Silicate Mortar shall be apply for bedding of AR Bricks
 Fixing of AR Bricks shall be arranged & the joints shall be fixed by Mortar.
 The Appearance of the Bricks shall be such that joints shall be Brocken vertically.
 The AR Bricks shall be cut by Brick Cutter Machine only.
 Workmanship of filling of joints shall be such that voids/air gap are not left during
execution.
 Care shall be taken during fixing that no AR Bricks shall be used with broken edges.
 Application of 1st layer Brick Lining shall be completed with above procedure.
 Application of next each layer shall be done with the same procedure.

 Safety plan:

 The execution area shall be barricaded with colored ribbon and sign board.
 All labours should work with safety PPE’s (Safety shoes, Safety Google, Safety Gloves, Full
Body Harness in case of work at height, Safety Helmet etc).
 As this is the specialized job, safety Talk (Tool Box Talk) shall be done before the execution
as well as once in a week for awareness of labours.
 Scaffolding/Stagging shall be approved first to do work safely in case of work at height.
 Cutting Tools shall be in healthy condition.
 TBRA (Task Based Risk Assessment) shall be done if suggested before execution.

 Inspection Records :

 AR Bricks shall be inspected as per TOS.

 All records of spot levels shall be approved by IBIC and the same shall be maintained in the
register and it shall be transferred on a drawing.

 RECORDS.

 Following records shall be maintained and produce as and when required.

1 Level record
2 Testing Reports
3 Daily Progress report
4 Drawing file
5 Pour Card
6 Site Instruction
