My grandpa and grandma live in a village named Vellanad in Thiruvananthapuram district.
My grandpa is Ravi. He is seventy years old. He has a farm and on his farm he has animals like
cows, goats and chickens. My grandmother is Leela.
My mother Reeja is their eldest daughter. She manages the whole family. She is so fond of
plants and flowers. So she keeps a beautiful garden in front of our house. My father Sajeev is a
clerk in a bank. He likes swimming and travelling.
I’ve a brother and a sister. My brother Sreedhar is 12 years old. His special interest is in
computer. He is studying in sixth standard in GVHSS Kulathummal. He likes reading too. Rani,
my younger sister has a good collection of dolls, building blocks and puzzles to play with. She is
studying in second standard.
My uncle and aunt live in Kanimangalam, Thrissur. My uncle’s name is Ramesh. He is a
Mechanical Engineer. He works in Indian Railways. He likes reading novels and short stories.

Ilthumish was the ruler who assumed power after Qutbuddin Aibak. He con-
quered Multan and Lahore. He introduced a uniform monetary system in the
regions under his control. Tanka and Jital were the coins he introduced.
Alauddin Khalji, the chief ruler of the Khalji Dynasty who came to power after the
Mamluk Dynasty, conquered the regions in Southern and Western India. After
his conquest of Gujarat, the seaports came under his control. He imported the

The Moovendars' region comprising Kerala was ruled by the Chera kings. A kingdom
based at Mahodayapuram was established in the 9th CE. The rulers of this kingdom
were known as Perumals. The present Kodungallur and the surrounding areas were
known as Mahodayapuram in those says. The Perumals were also known as Cheras
