INTRODUCTION
• In Internet of Things (IoT), the different smart objects are
connected, communicate with each other.
• IoT helps in monitoring electrical and physical and
electronic devices.
• In this Project we set the sensors on home appliances for
reading the serial data from the sensors.
• User get the electricity power consumption of each home
appliances and suggestions using mobile applications
through Wi-Fi.
• User get the notification through mobile application that
which appliances is consuming how much data.

1
• Here we set the camera for face recognition, if the face is
registered then he/she can manage the home appliances using
the mobile application otherwise not.
• If the face is register then only the user can manage the
appliances using mobile application that is user can turn ON or
OFF the appliances.

consumption monitoring Methodology:- The hardware and software
system using IoT” IEEE interface are connected to each other to monitor
paper, volume 173- No.5, the power consumption of the user.
September 2018. Result Analysis:- Moving from one meter reading
per month to smart meter readings every 30 min
results in a massive volume of data to manage.

GAP ANALYSIS
• Gap analysis is nothing but the difference between existing
system and proposed system
• A meter is encased in a glass housing and has a metal disc
inside the building, draws the current from the service wires.
• Electrical consumption read manually by utility service person
who visits the home to read the number of dials. Where person
calculate the consumption.
• It requires more human involvement for reading the meter
and give the electric bills to the user manually.
• Where user is not able to get the complete details about the
electricity consumption.

7
• So that we plan to make a system which eliminates the Manual
reading of meter.
• In this monitoring the electric system is very quick.
• Here we can closely track our usage and spend .
• Here user get the notification of power consumption through
the mobile application ,from which user can manage the power
consumption.

8
PROBLEM STATMENT
• Input: Collect the electrical parameters of home appliances
using sensors.
• Technique used: Plan to develop a model to track electricity
consumption and electricity wastage of each home appliances.
• Output: User get the electricity power consumption of each
home appliances and suggestions using mobile application
through Wi-Fi and user can also ON and OFF home
appliances from mobile App or repair/replace home appliance
to manage the electricity consumption.

9
OBJECTIVES
• Set the camera to capture the human facial recognition.
• Setup the sensor to collect the electricity consumption value of
each home appliances.
• The raspberry pi is used to track the power consumption. If the
value exceeds the threshold value then user can manage it using
the mobile.
• Develop the mobile app to get the electricity power consumption
of each home appliances and user can manage the home
appliances using mobile application.

10
OVERVIEW OF SYSTEM
• The current system has hardware and software components.
• The hardware consists of the device to monitor electricity usage
and the circuit for powering off the devices when they are not in
use.
• The software part of the system consists of a mobile application
which shows the data regarding the electricity consumption by
different appliances. Using mobile user control the home
appliances.
• Camera is used for facial recognition, if the face is registered
then he/she can manage the home appliances using the mobile
application otherwise not.

SYSTEM DESIGN

Fig 1: System design 14

• The system architecture of home automation is shown in above
figure. It consist of sensors and camera module, raspberry pi,
mobile web and Ac relay.
• We use the camera to capture the human facial recognition.
• The raspberry pi is used to collect signals from the AC relay.
• The Raspberry Pi is a small single-board computer developed by
the Raspberry Pi Foundation.
• AC Relay is used to control the home appliances and it collects
the data from the appliances and sends to the raspberry pi.
• Appliances is a device or piece of equipment specially and
electrical one design to perform a specific task.

15
• A home appliance also referred to as an electric appliance or
a house hold appliance.
• In this project we use camera for facial recognition if the user
is register then only user can manage the appliances.
• After the successful connection user will able to manage the
home appliances using the mobile application. It will accessed
through creating the connectivity with Wi-Fi.
• The function of this project is ON/OF the appliances.
• Finally, with the help of mobile application based on the user
command the home appliances can be turned ON/OF.

IMPLEMENTATION
• Implementation consist of hardware and software
implementation. In order to implement project we used camera,
current sensor,Resberry pi ,WI-FI module, mobile application.

• We set the camera to capture the human facial recognition. If the
person is already register then only he/she can on/off the
appliances using mobile application if the person is not
registered then we will get the notification that the person is not
register.

RESULT AND DISCUSSION
• This project can be implemented with main controller that
is connected to the 24 hours Wi-Fi connection.
• To ensure do no turn off the Wi-Fi connection. Firstly we
have to switch on the mains. Current sensors sense the
• power utilized by the appliances, there is a set point
called as threshold value :when the power utilized by the
appliances exceeds the threshold value it gives the alert.
• here we set the camera to capture the human image, if the
face is registered then he/she can manage the home
appliances using the mobile application otherwise not.

22
SCOPE OF PROJECT
• This project is used to design for reducing power consumption of
each home appliance.
• When various appliances of the household consume electricity
the Current sensor monitors it.
• Using the values, the Watt of electricity consumed can be known
in the mobile application.
• In the application, the user can check the electricity consumption
of individual appliances. It gives information of electricity
consumed by the individual appliance. If we don’t want to run a
device, then we can even turn it off using the mobile application.
• If the power value exceeds the threshold value then we can turn
it off using the mobile application. This project helps the user
know the reasons behind their electricity bills.
23
CONCLUSION
• Electric power consumption of each home appliances and
tracking electricity wastage and send the suggestions to the
user via mobile application.
• Using the IoT connectivity, we can monitor and access our
smart home easily, which will definitely will prove to be
energy efficient. In this model, reduce the power consumption
of each home appliance. It controls the wastage of electricity
that can be helpful for other users and it saves the user time,
which reduces the cost.
