NURSING 2

The nursing field has continued to gain much attention, and many people are looking
forward to venturing into a nursing career due to the numerous benefits it offers. Some of the
benefits of getting a nursing career include flexible schedules, diverse opportunities, earning
potential, high demand, and assisting other people. The majority of people get into the nursing
profession because they have a sincere passion for helping others through their services. Nurses
usually help others by caring for them in various health care environments and even fight for
patients' rights, which has improved and saved the lives of many people, Daly, J., & Jackson, D.
(2020). They have played a key role in shaping the health and well-being of individuals, families,
and the entire community that they serve. A nursing career also has diverse opportunities since
nurses can decide to apply their knowledge and skills in different practice settings, such as
military bases, airplanes, and campsites.

Importance of nursing education

Whenever an individual wants to be a nurse, they must first have formal education and
pass the RN-NCLEX nursing exam through the state board in which they live. Indeed, for a
nurse to treat sick or injured patients, they must have adequate knowledge and be trained
properly. Nursing schools play a crucial role in helping people to achieve their dreams in a
nursing career because this is where they always learn all the ways to keep themselves and the
patients safe as they provide care, Jackson, (2021). Nursing education is important because
health care has been determined as a number one priority in many countries and nurses usually
help deliver health care. Nursing education helps nurses perform various duties such as
advocating for health promotion, helping families learn how to become healthy, and providing an
ongoing assessment of people's health. Nurses advocate for promoting health by educating
patients and the public on preventing sickness and injury, offering care and assistance in the
cure, participating in rehabilitation, and providing support. Nurses also assist families in
learning how to become healthy by aiding them in understanding the range of emotional,
physical, mental, and cultural experiences.

Review of the IOM Future of Nursing Recommendations for achieving higher levels of
education.
NURSING 3

IOM Future of Nursing Recommendations for achieving higher levels of education and
transforming nursing education is to increase the current percentage of the nurses who hold the
BSN degree to a percentage of 80. In addition, to transform nursing education is to encourage
nurses with associate and diploma degrees to enter baccalaureate programs that nursing offers by
offering tuition reimbursement, creating a conducive environment that promotes a continuation
culture, and lastly, placing measures that ensure salaries rise and grow in a promotion. In
addition, there should be an expansion of loans and grants for the students who pursue nursing
courses, Hensley, (2021).

Professional certification and advanced degrees (MSN, DNP, etc.) you want to pursue and
reasons for wanting to attain the education.

Most European countries currently mostly prefer a DNP as an appropriate nursing or minimum
qualification for nursing practitioners, and it is normally championed and promoted. However,
the IOM still prefers DNP and calls MSN programs to be shifted to the DNP level to allow an
overall qualification for nursing students, making DNP more preferable because it meets the
standard qualification of nursing, Hampton, (2021). The DNP expounds on the MSN concepts,
providing an education that focuses on the following areas in nursing. The first one is a provision
of a scholarship in nursing, giving room for innovations and practical care delivery models, the
practice of improvement, examinations of various healthcare outcomes, and establishing clinical
proficiency.

The timeline for accomplishing these goals.

MSN and DNP are special advanced programs specifically for nurses who already have a degree
in Bachelor of Science in Nursing. MSN normally takes three years, one and half years in
classroom theory. The other remaining year is formulating a dissertation and taking more
concentration in the practical field or attachment. On the other hand, DNP takes two and three
years of theory and takes part in the practical field of nursing; hence in total, it may end up to six
years to accomplish them both, Gallagher, M. (2021).

How increasing your level of education would affect your competitiveness in the current job
market and your role in the future of nursing.
NURSING 4

Research has proved that a high education in nursing helps to beat the completion in the
competitive world of nursing by showing a clear link between more advanced levels of nursing
education and patient outcomes. This has increased the complexities in the health care system.
The nursed with a DNP are more privileged to scholarships to study other relevant fields in
nursing. In addition, DNP students are more advanced in aspects such as practice management,
quality improvement strategies, Cost measurement strategies, and Risk management strategies.

Continuing nursing education to competency, attitudes, knowledge, and the ANA Scope and
Standards for Practice and Code of Ethics.

According to Canady, K. (2021), there is a great relationship between continuing education to

competency, which means the practical world of nursing concerning attitudes, knowledge, and
the ANA scope and the standards placed in the nursing profession code of ethics in nursing.
These now enable nursing students to translate research into practice and improve the outcome
reliability of the general healthcare practice. In addition, there is a great relationship because it
allows room for an individual to participate in research and use the information learned in
research to develop and improve the quality of nursing. To create a harmonious code of ethics in
the nursing field, the relationship of the continuing nursing education concerning the attitudes
and knowledge then concrete and favorable policies are generated and implemented.

Continuing nursing education should be mandatory. Provide support for your response.

Education is a lifelong process, and at the same continuing nursing education should be a
continuous process because of the changing dynamics in the field of medicine. The changing
dynamics enables nurses to be able to learn new techniques in handling issues. This is because
human life is a very delicate subject to handle since it may lead to loss of life, which is very
painful, Larsen,(2021). Therefore, continuous nursing education also exposes nurses to modern
ways to handle patient patience, new scientific ways of performing research and administering
medicine.
