b. How can effective communication and language use contribute to the creation of a truly
global society?
We can achieve prosper society with peacefulness and harmonious citizen if we effectively
use communication as a tool for the development of a truly global society. Communication
serves as the building blocks and anchor of our society because all kinds of social connections
rely on communication. A truly global society is somewhat having no issues of war, terrorism,
corruption, discrimination and other forms of injustices that violates the human rights. It also
plays a vital role in connecting the people . Communication made it easy for the people living in
the developed and developing countries to interact. The gap between the two has been
narrowed. They can now focus on resolving different problems by bringing attention as it pertains
to global security. Through the effective use of the different means of communication, we have
now the capacity to find common ground with the people we met and we will meet and that we
have now the capacity to organize and take collective action together. With our global ability to
effectively communicate with one another, we can now be able to deal with the different
problems and persuade the whole world to move along and work together to achieve a truly
global society.
2. Discuss comprehensively the following terminologies comprehensively:
a. Cultural Relativism
Cultural relativism is the believe that all cultures are worthy in their own right and are of
equal value even those with conflicting moral beliefs, is not to be considered in terms of
right and wrong or good and bad , it is closely related to ethical relativism, which views
truth as variable and not absolute. What constitutes right and wrong is determined solely
by the individual or by society. Since truth is not objective, there can be no objective
standard which applies to all cultures. No one can say if someone else is right or wrong; it
is a matter of personal opinion, and no society can pass judgment on another society
meaning it refers to not judging a culture to our own standards of what is right or wrong,
strange or normal. Instead, we should try to understand cultural practices of other groups
in its own cultural context the idea that a person's beliefs, values, and practices should be
understood based on that person's own culture, and not be judged against the criteria of
another.
Culture is what informs our way of being , it’s what shapes our beliefs and values and
influences our behaviours. In our era despite of rampant and advance technology
some of us aren’t know other’s culture that may lead on , disrespect ,discourtesy and
profanity on others culture . Societies become more intertwined on a global scale,
countries’ demographics diversify, and our cross-cultural exchanges become more
frequent , world is getting bigger, richer, and more culturally diverse where we do not
coping in other’s culture. Understanding different people and their cultures is one of the
best ways we can learn from each other, and learn more about ourselves. By
immersing ourselves in other cultures beyond our own, we can learn about each other
where people came from, what their traditions are, and what they struggle with as a
community. It also forces us to criticize assumptions held about our own daily life and
practices, encouraging incredible personal growth. Who knows, maybe you'll even
learn something new about your own culture in the process.
c. Discrimination and harassment
In our society discrimination and harassment is not a new thing indeed it was chronic
and we are all experienced this kind of things let me elaborate and scrutinize this
two words when we say discrimination it is the unfair or prejudicial treatment of
people and groups based on characteristics such as race, gender, age or sexual
orientation on the other hand harassment is a form of discrimination it includes any
unwanted physical or verbal behavior that offends or humiliates
generally, harassment is a behavior that persists over time it is offensive, belittling,
threatening, or otherwise unwelcome behaviour directed at someone in my point of
view to avoid this problem we have to respect cultural and racial differences , be
professional in conduct and speech .refuse to initiate, participate, or condone
discrimination and harassment. Avoid race-based or culturally offensive humour or
pranks. When in doubt, leave it outside the workplace and familiarize yourself with
the company's workplace policies and act responsibly.
d. Language Differences
