INTRODUCTION

OVERVIEW
RATIONALE

Due to the pandemic – lockdowns, EMCQ, ECQ, and GCQ are implemented

everywhere. People cannot go to the market, maybe for their protection and safety. People

cannot buy their goods from those who only depend on the market. In our community, this

is the case in which we are always under ECQ because of the total number of positive cases

still arising. In order to adapt to this, we have involved ourselves in such an activity –

gardening. The reason we chose to do this is because (1) going to crowded places like the

market can increase the risk of being infected with the virus, (2) it is much easier –and

more convenient –than buying vegetables at the store, and (3) it increases the relationship

with neighbors (by selling them or sharing them) and the maintenance of food.

Advantages of Backyard Gardening:

Growing a wonderful backyard garden offers an advantage for us. To begin with,

gardening is physically beneficial; regardless of our physical condition or age, gardening

may give us with wonderful physical activity. Second, it improves our mental health.

Spending time in the garden might help you get away from the strains of everyday life.

Relaxing and reducing anxiety can be accomplished by pottering in the garden. Finally, we

will be able to save money. It may encourage us to consume more fruits and veggies. It also

aids in energy conservation and serves as another means of providing home for various life

types. It's also a lot easier – and more convenient —than going to the shop to buy

vegetables. Fourth, the earth is beneficial to our health. Many studies have been done, and

the results imply that one of the underlying causes of a rise in allergies, asthma, and other

human ailments is that children no longer play outside in the garden - at least not in more
industrialized countries. It broadens our understanding of nature, and because we are in

the midst of a pandemic, gardening could be a fun way to pass the time while also

improving our ability to grow fresh plants.

Disadvantages of Backyard Gardening:

A planting, in this sense, necessitates a time commitment; it is time intensive from

the planning stages through the harvesting stages. When you initially start gardening, you'll

need to put in the most time, but the effort will continue throughout the growing season.

You'll have to weed the garden and fertilize the plants. In vegetable gardens, you must also

collect the food as it grows. Sharing the workload with family members or establishing a

neighborhood garden will help you devote less time to it.

Vegetable gardens are thought to be money savers, but when it comes to gardening,

it's the claim costs that will net you more money than purchasing the vegetables. A tiller,

shovel, rake, hoe, and edging material are all items that you may need to create your garden

beds. The annual expenditures are lower after the first investment, but they still include

seeds, plants, compost, dirt, fertilizer, mulch, and back frameworks such as trellises or

tomato cages. Limiting the size of your garden can help keep costs down.

Benefits of Backyard Gardening:

Backyard gardening is one of the most prevalent things or pastimes found in almost

every household, particularly in rural areas. It is the process of transforming outside space

into a productive and usable area for the family or a place to grow plants, vegetables, and

fruits. Backyard gardening benefits us financially, in terms of food, and in terms of our
health. Gardening allows us to enjoy organic veggies and fruits while also allowing us to

prepare nutritious meals with them. As a result, when it comes to our health, backyard

gardening is beneficial since it allows us to achieve a healthy body by growing plants and

fruits that contain nutrients beneficial to our health. As a result, it is critical for us to be

healthy. Aside from the backyard, gardening also contributes to our financial well-being.

We can make money if we wish to sell our grown plants, and if the garden becomes larger

and wider, we will be able to earn more money. This is quite beneficial, especially for low-

income families. Furthermore, by engaging in backyard gardening, the family will be able to

spend more time together and form stronger bonds, especially if they do the job jointly.

They'll get to know one other better.

Growing your own fruits and vegetables has a positive impact on the environment.

Your organic plants, for example, do not require chemicals that are harmful to both human

health and the environment. The community will benefit from this endeavor. Having a large

number of individuals interested in the local community garden will bring people together

for a common goal, resulting in peace and harmony. As a result, this endeavor, backyard

gardening, is critical since it benefits families, human health, and the community as a

whole.
BODY

OBJECTIVES

This plan aims to introduce, demonstrate, and make available at the household level safe

and nutritious vegetable cultivation. The plan will be carried out by cultivating fresh, low-

cost vegetables in our backyard.

The members should be able to, by the completion of the project,

1. Make a concerted effort to learn about gardening and to recognize the value of

having a garden in the home.

2. Improve the ability to grow healthy, fresh vegetables.

3. Achieve agricultural self-sufficiency to assure food security and crop yield, even at a

low level.

4. This project is extremely important in promoting various organic veggies for

growing fresh and safe without the usage of chemicals.
