Garter Stitch Bookmark
Cast on 13 stitches.
All rows: Knit.
Work a total 86 rows. (You can adjust this
number if you want a shorter or longer
bookmark.)
Bind off.

Using a tapestry needle

Row 4: K2, yo, sl 1-k2 tog-psso, yo, k3, yo, sl
1-k2 tog-psso, yo, k2.
Row 8: K2 tog, yo, k3, yo, sl 1-k2 tog-psso, yo,
k3, yo, ssk.

Repeat rows 1 - 8 eight more times. Then Patterns is a great pattern for learning openwork. It has a

Cast on 13 stitches.

Row 1 (WS): K1, p11, k1.


Row 2: K2, yo, k3, sl 1-k2 tog-psso, k3, yo, k2.
Row 3: repeat row 1.
Row 4: K1, p1, k1, yo, k2, sl 1-k2 tog-psso, k2,
yo, k1, p1, k1.
Row 5: K2, p9, k2.
Row 6: K1, p1, k2, yo, k1, sl 1-k2 tog-psso, k1,
yo, k2, p1, k1. The Horseshoe Pattern, also from Walker’s Treasury of
