The teaching profession has been recognized as a regulated profession according to the Teacher and
Educational Personnel Council Act since B.E. 2546 (2003). Additionally, Item 5, Paragraph 2 of the
Teachers Council Regulations on Teacher Licenses, B.E. 2547 (2004), states that it is the obligation of
all foreigner nationals who wish to teach in Thai schools to be trained and evaluated under the criteria
and processes stipulated by the Teachers’ Council of Thailand. Consequently, this training program
has been created in accordance with the above regulations in order to provide foreign teachers with
proper knowledge and understanding required for obtaining the Teacher’s License within the Kingdom
of Thailand.
Objectives
- To provide foreign teachers with insight into the various aspects of Thai society, including
lifestyle, culture and identity in conjunction with a professional code of ethics for teachers, so
that they can perform their teaching responsibilities more effectively.
- To instill the attendees with both knowledge and skills so that they can meet the criteria for the
Teacher’s License
Qualification Requirement :
- Foreigners with a degree in Education or its equivalency or any program acknowledged by the
Teacher Council of Thailand Board
Course Structure
1. Thai Language and Culture 14 hours
1.1 Thai Society 4 hours
1.2 Thai Language and Culture 6 hours
1.3 Thai Manners 2 hours
1.4 Thai Arts and Music 2 hours
2. Professional Ethics 6 hours
Total 20 hours
Course Descriptions
Past and present Thai Society; its structure and way of life; Thai politics and administration, the
environment.
Thai for everyday use; Thai beliefs and values; clothing, food, Thai play and Buddhist
traditions.
Courtesy, that is, how to show respect, both formally and informally while standing, walking or
sitting; doing obeisance; paying respect to Buddha images; paying respect to elders.
Thai regional arts; aesthetic values and local attractions; characteristics and traits of Thai
musical instruments, dramatic art, literature and sports.
Professional standards and ethics, content of the Teacher and Educational Personnel Council
Act, B.E.2546 (2003), the importance of professional ethics, collegial and societal ethics.
Date/Place
The training program is scheduled from January 28 to 29, 2011, at the Salaya Pavilion Hotel
and Training Center, Mahidol University International College, Salaya Campus.

Certificate
Participants who attend the entire program and pass 60 % of the evaluation process will obtain
a certificate endorsed by the Teacher Council Board and Mahidol University International College.
