Saqi Ki Har Nigah Pay Bal Kha K P Gaya

Lehroon Say Khailta Hoa Lehra K P Gaya

Ey Rehmat-E-Tamaam Meri Har Khata Muaf
Mein Intiha-E-Shouq (Mein) Say Ghabra K P Gaya

Peta Baghair Izm Yeah Kab Thi Meri Majaal

Dar Pardah Chashm-E-Yaar Ki Shay Pa K P Gaya

Paas Rehta Hai Duur Rehta Hai

Koi Dil Mein Zaroor Rehta Hai
Jab Say Dekha Hai Un Ki Aankhon Ko
Halka Halka Suroor Rehta Hai

Aisay Rehtay Hein Koi Mere Dil Mein

Jaisay Zulmat Mein Noor Rehta Hai
Ub Adam Ka Yeah Haal Hai Har Waqt
Mast Rehta Hai Chuur Rehta Hai

Yeah Joh Halka Halka Saroor Hai

Yeah Teri Nazar Ka Qasoor Hai
K Sharab Peena Sikha Diya
Tairay Pyar Nai, Teri Chaah Nai
Teri Behki Behki Nigaah Nai
Mujhay Ik Sharabi Bana Diya…

Sharab Kaisi (What Drink), Khumaar Kaisa (What Elevation)

Yeah Sub Tumhari Nawazishein Hein (It Is All Your Gift)
Pilai Hai Kiss Nazar Say Tu Nai (How I Have Been Made Into An Addict)
K Mujhko Apni Khabar Nahi Hai (I Have No Awareness Of Myself)
Teri Behki Behki Nigah Nai (Your Lost Looks)
Mujhe Ik Sharabi Bana Dia....

Sara Jahan Must, Jahan Ka Nizam (System) Must

Din Must, Raat Must, Saher (Morning) Must, Shaam Must
Dil Must, Sheesha Must, Sabu (Cup Of Wine) Must, Jaam Must
Hai Teri Chashm-E-Must Say Her Khaas-O-Aam (Everyone) Must

Yoon To Saqi Her Tarah Ki Tere MaiKhane Mein Hai

Woh Bhi Thori Si Jo In Aankhon K Paimane Mein Hai
Sub Samajhta Hoon Teri Ishwa-Kari (Cleverness) Ay Saqi
Kaam Karti Hai Nazar Naam Hai Paimane Ka.. Bus!
Teri Behki Behki Nigah Nai
Mujhe Ik Sharabi Bana Diya...
Tera Pyar Hai Meri Zindagi (My Life Is Your Love)
Tera Pyar Hai Meri Bandagi (I Am Enclosed In Your Love)
Tera Pyar Hai Bas Meri Zindagi, Tera Pyar Hai Bas Meri Zindagi
Na Namaz Aati Hai Mujhko, Na Wazoo Aata Hai
Sajda Kar Leta Hoon, Jab Saamnay Tu Aata Hai
Bus Meri Zindagi Tera Pyar Hai....

Mai Azal Say Banda-E-Ishq Hoon, Mujhe Zohd-O-Kufr Ka Gham Nahin (Deep
Down I Am A Lover. I Am Not Sad For Hereafter-Hell)
Mere Sir Ko Dar Tera Mil Gaya, Mujhe Ab Talash-E-Haram Nahi
Meri Bandagi Hai Wo Bandagi, Jo Muqeed-E-Dair-O-Haram (Bounded To Any
Sacrad Place) Nahi
Mera Ik Nazar Tumhein Dekhna, Ba Khuda Namaz Se Kam Nahi (For Me To
Look At You Is No Less Than Namaz)
Bus Meri Zindagi Tera Pyar Hai...
Bus Meri Zindagi Tera Pyar Hai...

Tera Naam Loon Zubaan Say, Tere Aagay Sir Jhuka Doon
Mera Ishq Keh Raha Hai, Mein Tujhe Khuda Bana Doon
Tera Naam Mere Lub Per, Mera Tazkara Hai Dar Dar
Mujhay Bhool Ja'ay Dunya, Mein Agar Tujhe Bhula Doon
Mere Dil Mein Bus Rahe Hein, Tere Bepanah Jalwe
Na Ho Jiss Mein Noor Tera, Woh Charagh Hi Bujha Doon

Jo Pucha K Kis Tarah Hoti Hai Baarish, Jabeen (Forehead) Se Paseene Ki

Boondein Gira Di
Jo Pucha K Kis Tarah Girti Hai Bijli, Nigahein Milaein Mila Kar Jhuka Dein
Jo Pucha Shab-O-Roz Milte Hain Kaise, To Chehre Pe Apne Wo Zulfein Hata
Deein
Jo Pucha K Naghmon Mein Jaadu Hai Kaisa, To Meethe Takallum Mein Baatein
Suna Deein
Jo Apni Tamanaon Ka Haal Poocha , To Jalti Howi Chand Shamein Bhujha Deein
Main Kehta Reh Gaya Khata-E-Mohabbat Ki Achi Saza Di

Mere Dil Ki Dunya Bana Kar Mita Di, Acha!

Mere Baad Kisko Satao Gay,
Mujhe Kis Tarah Se Mitao Gay
Kahan Ja Ke Teer Chalao Gay

Meri Dosti Ki Balaein Lo

Mujhe Haath Utha Kar Duaein Do, Tumhein Ek Qatil Bana Diya
Mujhe Daikho Khuwahish-E-Jan-E-Jaan
Main Wohi Hoon Anwar-E-Nim Jaan
Tumhain Itna Hosh Tha Jub Kahan
Na Chalao Is Tarah Tum Zaban
Karo Mera Shukriya Meherban
Tumhein Baat Karna Sikha Diya...

Yeh Jo Halka Halka Saroor Hai, Yeh Teri Nazar Ka Kasoor Hai
Kay Sharab Peena Sikha Diya

Mera Piya Ghar Aaya (My Beloved Has Come Home) English Translation
Kalam: Baba Bulleh Shah

Turn away the watchman!

My beloved has come home!
God has made this union possible.
O what a beautiful miracle!
Again and again lie strikes the gong,
And cuts he short the night of union.
If he were to find my heart’s desire,
He would throw away the gong, O friends!
Turn away the watchman, O friends! ..............
<a

Come, dear friends and, felicitate me on my good fortune!

I have found my consort in my beloved!

Turn away the watchman!

My beloved has come home!
God has made this union possible.
O what a beautiful miracle!
It's a magical moment,
Complete grace is upon me,
My beloved has come home!

This day has arrived, this auspicious day,

When my beloved is at my doorstep.
Turn away the watchman!
My beloved has come home!

Again and again the timekeeper strikes the gong,

And cuts he short the night of union.
If he were to find my heart's desire,
He would throw away the gong, O friends!
Turn away the watchman, O friends!

The un-struck melody resounds sweetly.

The Musician is accomplished, the tune enchanting,
Prayers and fasting are all forgotten,
When the Distiller offers the cup, O friends!
Turn away the watchman, O friends!

Bulleh Shah’s nuptial bed of the Spouse is dear.

O friends, the Savior has redeemed me!
With what an anguish my turn has come!
Now it is hard ever to leave Him.
Turn away the watchman, O friends!
Today my precious, my Beloved has come home. toolbar

Mera Piya Ghar Aaya (Lyrics: Hazrat Baba Bulleh Shah)

Come, dear friends and, felicitate me on my good fortune!

I have found my consort in my beloved!

Turn away the watchman!

My beloved has come home!
God has made this union possible.
O what a beautiful miracle!
Again and again lie strikes the gong,
And cuts he short the night of union.

*****
Wondrous is the sight of His face!
The pain of my heart has all vanished,
How to extend the length of this night?
Place a wall against the day, O friends!
Turn away the watchman, O friends!

I have no knowledge even of myself;

What do I know where I've reached!
How can this fact remain a secret?
Now has descended the perfect grace!
Turn away the watchman, O friends!

I resorted to many a love-charm;

Magicians of great renown did I call.
Now the Beloved has come to my house.
May I live with Him for eternity!
Turn away the watchman, O friends!

*****
Bulleh Shahs nuptial bed of the Spouse is dear.
O friends, the Savior has redeemed me!
With what an anguish my turn has come!
Now it is hard ever to leave Him.
Turn away the watchman, O friends!
Today my precious, my Beloved has come home.
Ye Jo Halka Halka Suroor
saaqii kii har nigaah pe bal khaa ke pii gayaa
lehroN se kheltaa hu’aa lehraa ke pii gayaa
In awe of every glance of the cup-bearer, I drank
I drank playing with the waves of joy.
ai rahmat-e-tamaam merii har Khataa mu’aaf
maiN intihaa-e-shauq meN ghabraa ke pii gayaa
O all-merciful! Please forgive all my wrongs
I drank confounded by the extreme desire.
piitaa baGhair izn ye kab thii meri majaal
dar-pardaa chashm-e-yaar kii shah paa ke pii gayaa
I do not dare to drink without permission
but the patronage of veiled eyes of my beloved beckoned.
zaahid ye merii shoKhii-e-rindaanaa dekhnaa
rahmat ko baatoN baatoN meN bahlaa ke pii gayaa
O abstinent! Look at the mischievousness of my drinking
I drank by befriending the forgiveness [of God].
uudii uudii ghaataa’eN aatii haiN
mutriboN kii navaa’eN aatii haiN
Purple clouds are over-cast
and the sound of music is all around.
kis ke gesuu khule haiN saavan meN
mahkii mahkii havaa’eN aatii haiN
Whose tresses are open in the rains?
The winds are perfumed.
aao sah’n-e-chaman meN raqs kareN
saaz lekar ghaataa’eN aatii haiN
Let us dance in the garden courtyard
the clouds brought music [with them].
dekh kar unkii ankhRiyoN ko “Adam”
maikadoN ko havaa’eN aatii haiN
After seeing her eyes O Adam!
I can feel the ambience of tavern.
paas rahtaa hai duur rahtaa hai
ko’ii dil meN zaruur rahtaa hai
Near and far, somebody lives
somebody do lives in my heart.
jab se dekhaa hai unkii aaNkhoN ko
halkaa halkaa suruur rahtaa hai
From the time I have seen her eyes
I remain mildly intoxicated.
aise rehte haiN vo mere dil meN
jaise zulmat meN nuur rahtaa hai
My beloved lives in my heart, like
light lives in darkness.
ab “Adam” kaa vo haal hai har qadam
mast rahtaa hai chuur rahtaa hai
“Adam” is of such a disposition that at every step
he remains intoxicated and ecstatic.
ye jo halkaa halkaa suruur hai
ye terii nazar kaa qusuur hai
ke sharaab piina sikha diyaa
This mild intoxication
is because of your eyes,
that taught me drinking.
tere pyaar ne terii chaah ne
teri bahkii bahkii nigaah ne
mujhe ek sharaabii bana diyaa
Your love and your longing,
your intoxicating glances
made me a drunkard.
sharaab kaisii, Khumaar kaisaa
ye sab tumharii navaazisheN haiN
pilaayii hai kis nazar se tuune
ke mujhko apnii Khabar nahiiN hai
What wine, what intoxication
all this is [due to] your kindness.
You served me [wine] with your eyes such
that I have forgotten myself.
saaraa jahaaN mast, jahaaN kaa nizaam mast
din mast, raat mast, saher mast, shaam mast
mast shiisha, mast subuu, mast jaam mast
hai terii chashm-e-mast se har Khaas-o-aam mast
The whole world is ecstatic, the order of the world is ecstatic.
The day is ecstatic, so is dawn and so is evening.
The glass, cup and wine are all ecstatic.
Because of your intoxicating eyes, everyone and everything is
ecstatic.
ye jo saaqii har tarah kii tere maiKhaane meN hai
vo bhii thoRii sii jo in aaNkhon ke paimaane meN hai
Of all the wines you have in your tavern
serve me a little from your eyes.
sab samajhtaa huuN terii ish (??) nazar ai saaqii
kaam kartii hai nazar, naam hai paimaane kaa
I understand your alluring glances
that cause intoxication, instead of wine.
teraa pyaar hai bas merii zindagii

Only your love is my life.

na namaaz aatii hai mujhko na vuzuu aataa hai
sajdaa kar letaa huuN jab saamne tuu aataa hai
Neither I know prayers nor ablutions,
I prostate whenever you come in front of me.
maiN azal se bandaa-e-ishq huuN
mujhe zuhd-o-kufr kaa Gham nahiiN
mere sar ko dar teraa mil gayaa
mujhe ab talaash-e-haram nahiiN
I am a follower of love since the beginning of life
[and] I do not care for piousness or irreligiousness.
My head has found your house,
now I do not search for the mosque.
merii bandagii hai vo bandagii
jo ba-qaid-e-dair-o-haram nahiiN
mera ek nazar tumheN dekhnaa
baa-Khudaa namaaz se kam nahiiN
My devotion is such devotion
that is not bound by the mosque and the temple.
When I see you once
by God, it is no less than a prayer.
teraa pyaar hai bas merii zindagii

Only your love is my life.

qayaamat meN teraa daaGh-e-muhabbat lekar uThuungaa
terii tasviir us dam bhii kaleje se lagii hogii
On the day of judgment, I would rise with the scars of your love
your image would be clinging to my heart on that day.
kyunkii

because
teraa pyaar hai bas merii zindagii

Only your love is my life.

terii yaad hai merii bandagii
jo terii Khushii, vo merii Khushii
ye mere junuuN kaa hai mo’jizaa
jahaaN apne sar ko jhukaa diyaa
vahaaN maine Kaaba banaa diyaa
Your remembrance is my prayer
[and] your wish is my wish.
This is the miracle of my frenzy
that where ever I prostrated
a mosque was made there.
mere baad kisko sataaoge?

On whom would you inflict pain after me?

Dil-jaloN se dil-lagii acchii nahiiN
rone vaaloN se haNsii acchii nahiiN
dillagii hii dillagii meN dil gayaa
It is not nice to play with the emotions of sufferers,
it is not good to laugh at the mourners.
I lost my heart in [just in] play.
O! meraa dil gayaa, dil gayaa, dil gayaa

O my heart is gone!
Khudaa ke liye apnii nazroN ko roko varnaa
meraa dil gayaa, dil gayaa, dil gayaa
For God’s sake change your glances, else
my heart is gone.
merii tarah Khudaa kare teraa kisii pe aaye dil
tuu bhii kalejaa thaam ke kahtaa phire ke haaye dil
I pray to God that you also fall in love with someone
and suffer in separation with hands on your heart.
meraa dil gayaa, dil gayaa, dil gayaa

My heart is gone.
dillagii hii dillagii meN dil gayaa
dil lagaane ka natiijaa mil gayaa
maiN to rotaa huuN ke meraa dil gayaa
tum kyuuN hanste ho tumheN kyaa mil gayaa?
I lost my heart just in fun
and got the measure of falling in love.
I cry because my heart is lost
[but] why do you laugh, what did you get?
acchaa phir…..

Okay then…..
mere baad kisko sataaoge?
mujhe kis tarah se miTaaoge?
kahaaN jaa kar tiir chalaaoge?
merii dostii kii balaayeN lo
mujhe haath uThaa kar du’aaeN do
tumheN ek qaatil banaa diyaa
To whom would you inflict pain after me?
How would you take me out of your life?
Where would you cast those arrow-like glances?
Value my friendship
[that] helped you to gain murderous charm.
mujhe dekho Khvaaish-e-jaan-e-jaaN
maiN vohii huuN “Anwar”-e-niim jaaN
tumheN itnaa hosh thaa jab kahaaN
na chalaao is tarah tum zubaaN
karo meraa shukriyaa meh’rbaaN
tumheN baat karnaa sikhaa diyaa
Watch me, O my desire of life!
I am the same suffering “Anwar”
You were not even in your senses at that time
[so] don’t argue with me in such a manner
[but] offer thanks to me
that I helped you articulate yourself.
Note: Anwar is the name of the poet.
ye jo halkaa halkaa suruur hai
ye terii nazar kaa qusuur hai
ke sharaab piina sikha diyaa
This mild intoxication
is because of your eyes,
that taught me drinking.
Lyrics: Jigar Moradabadi, Abdul Hameed Adam, Anwar Jogi

husn-e-jaanaaN kii taariif mumkin nahiiN

It is not possible to praise the beauty of beloved.

aafriin aafriin

O the most beautiful one!

tuu bhii dekhe agar to kahe ham-nashiiN

Even if you see my beloved, you would also say

aafriin aafriin

O the most beautiful one!

aisaa dekhaa nahiiN Khuubsuurat ko’ii

I never saw anyone so beautiful
[her] body is like the images of Ajanta*
[her] body is like a spell on eyes
[her] body is like a song [and] perfumed
[her] body is like ecstatic music
[her] body is like sweet-smelling moon-light
[her] body is like a blooming garden
[her] body is like the first ray of the Sun
[her] body is like carved statue, eye-catching and arresting
like sandalwood
like marble.
Note: Caves in India containing beautiful murals.
chehraa ek phuul kii tarah shaadaab hai
chehraa uskaa hai yaa ko’ii mahtaab hai
chehraa jaise Ghazal, chehraa jaan-e-Ghazal
chehraa jaise kalii, chehraa jaise kaNval
chehraa jaise tasavvur kii tasviir bhii
chehraa ek Khvaab bhii chehraa tabiir bhii
[Her] face is like a fresh flower.
Is it her face or moon?
[her] face is like a Ghazal, [her] face is like heart of Ghazal
[her] face is like a bud, [her] face is like lotus
[her] face is like manifestation of imagination
[her] face is like a dream, and its interpretation too.
chehraa ko’ii alif lailavii daastaaN

chehraa jaise ke chehraa ko’ii bhii nahiiN
maah-ruuh maah-ruuh
maah-jabiiN maah-jabiiN
[Her] face is like the tales of Alif Laila*.
One moment real, another moment imagination
[her] face is like no other face
[her] forehead is moonlike
so is her body.
Note: Arabian Nights.
aaNkheN dekhii to maiN dekhtaa rah gayaa
jaam do aur donon hii do aatishah

I could not keep off my eyes after seeing her eyes
they are like two cups of wine and that too, burning
are these eyes or two doors of wine-house
her downward glance is abashness
her upward glance is prayer
when eyes look up after downward glance, is like a style
eyes, in which arrested are the sky and the earth
like Narcissus
[and] greyish
zulf-e-jaanaN kii bhii lambii hai daastaaN
zulf ke mere dil par hai parchaiiyaaN
zulf jaise ke ummRii hu’ii ho ghaTaa

zulf zanjiir hai phir bhii kitnii hasiiN
reshmii reshmii
ambariiN ambariin
The story of the tresses of beloved is also long
tresses are like shadows on my heart
tresses are like over-cast clouds
tresses like some black spectre
when tresses are entangled, so also is the world
when tresses are straight, then writing this song becomes easy
when tresses spread apart then black night downs
when tresses sway then the night sings
tresses are chains, but so beautiful
silken
[and] perfumed
Lyrics: Javed Akhtar
Shamas Ud Doha, Badar Ud Doja
This qawwali is in praise of Prophet Muhammad. Such poetic
compositions are known as naat. Prophet is addressed by many
titles, two of them are Shams-ud-duha and Badr-ud-duja.
yaa Khudaa jism meN jab tak ye mere jaan rahe
tujh pe sadqe, tere mehbuub pe qurbaan rahe
kuch rahe yaa na rahe, par ye du’aa hai ke “Ameen”
nizaa ke vaqt salaamat meraa iimaan rahe
O Lord! Till the time there is life in my body
it should be devoted to you and an offering to your beloved
[Muhammad].
It doesn’t matters if I have anything or not, but I pray
“Ameen”
that at the time of death, my faith is safe.
Note: “Ameen” is the name of the poet.
taaziim se letaa hai Khudaa naam-e-Muhammad
kyaa naam hai ai salle-alaa naam-e-Muhammad
Allah kare usko haraam aatish-e-dozaKh
jis shakhs ke dil pe likhaa ho naam-e-Muhammad
God remembers the name of Muhammad with deference
such is the name of Muhammad, peace be upon him.
May God prohibit the fire of hell
on anyone whose heart is written the name of Muhammad.
jis dil meN Muhammad kii muhabbat nahiiN hotii
us par kabhii Allah kii rahmat nahiiN hotii
meraa ye aqiidaa hai agar zikr-e-Khudaa meN
ye naam na shaamil ho ibaadat nahiiN hotii
On the heart that doesn’t love Muhammad
Allah never has mercy.
It is my belief that while remembering God
if this name [Muhammad] is not included then prayers
wouldn’t be answered.
rabb ne farmaayaa merii qudrat kii hadd ko’ii nahiiN
aur mere mehbuub kii rahmat kii hadd ko’ii nahiiN
jab malak samjhe nahiiN to aadmii samjhegaa kyaa
Amina ke laal kii azmat kii hadd ko’ii nahiiN
God said that His power has no limits
and my beloved’s [Muhammad] mercy has no limits.
When even angels couldn’t understand then how can men
understand?
The greatness of the son of Amina has no limits.
Khudaa kaa nuur tujh meN huu-ba-huu hai
Khudaa pinhaaN magar tuu ruu-ba-ruu hai
terii azmat kaa andaazaa ho kis ko
Khudaa hai aur Khudaa ke baad tuu hai
The light of God is reflected in you
God is hidden but present are you.
Who can imagine your greatness, when
there is God and thereafter you.
Shams-ud-duhaa Badr-ud-dujaa terii baRii tauqiir hai
suurat terii shaah-e-umam, Allah kii tasviir hai
O the bright sun!, O the moon in darkness!, you are revered
greatly.
O the king of mankind!, your face is an image of God.
aisii suurat terii kamlii vaale*

Such is your appearance, O the blanket draped one!

Note: Prophet used to drape himself in a black blanket
sometimes. Hence, the salutation.
Allah ne paas bulaa hii liyaa*
bin dekhe Khudaa bhii rah na sakaa
Eventually God called you to Him
even He could not resist seeing you.
Note: Refers to the journey of Prophet to God, called as
‘meraaj’ or the ascent.
tumhaaraa saanii risaalat-mu’aab ho na sakaa
tumhaaraa ko’ii kahiiN bhii javaab ho na sakaa
rasuul aur bhii aaye jahaan meN lekin
ko’ii bhii saahib-e-ummul kitaab ho na sakaa
There is no one like you, O the respected Prophet
[and] there is no answer to you, anywhere.
Other messengers [of God] came to this world too
[but] nobody could become the one with the book for mankind.
meraaj* meN Jibriil se kahne lage shaah-e-umam
tuune to dekhe haiN hasiiN, batlaao to kaise haiN ham
ruuh-ul-Khudaa kahne lagaaa, ai naazniiN haq kii qasam
(I am not sure about this line, somebody please help!)
On the night of ascension, King of the people [Muhammad]
asked Jibriil [Gabriel]
You have seen the beautiful ones, tell me how am I?
The soul of God replied, O the beautiful one, by God!
Note: Refers to the journey of Prophet to God, called as
‘meraaj’ or the ascent.
mere sohne kamlii vaalaRyaa, teraa aashiq kul zamaanaa ve
tere husn kii kyaa taariif karaaN, rabb aap teraa diivaanaa ve
O my beloved draped in blanket! The whole world loves you.
What to say of your beauty, even the Lord is mad in your love.
royaa shab-e-hijraaN meN bahut ashq bahaayaa
itne meN musavvir ko zaraa rahm jo aayaa
naqshe ka’ii tasviiroN ke saamne vo laayaa
bola, ke ye Yusuf haiN, ye Isaa haiN, ye Musaa
maine kahaa inmeN se kisii par nahiiN shaidaa
jab saamne laayaa vo shabiih-e-shah-e-vaalaa
be-saaKhtaa us vaqt zubaaN se merii niklaa
(There are some lines in Punjabi after this which I couldn’t
understand, somebody please help!)
Cried in the night of separation and shed tears in plenty.
Then the painter had a little mercy
and brought [before me] some sketches.
He said, this is Yusuf [Joseph], this is Isaa [Jesus] and this is
Musaa [Prophet Moses].
I replied that I am not possessed by anyone of these.
When he brought the image of the King [Muhammad]
my tongue started reciting spontaneously

What have I to do with the world when I have his refuge on the
Day of Judgement
I am the slave of Mustafaa*, how lucky I am!
Note: Another name of Prophet Muhammad.
dushman bhii kahte haiN yahii, kyaa baat hai sarkaar kii
na aaNkh meN qahr-o-Ghazab, na haath meN shamshiir hai
Even his enemies accept too, what to say of the Master
[Muhammad]
Neither his eyes are violent or [filled with] anger, nor there is a
sword in his hands.

Ali kaa naam sun kar ab bhii Khaibar kaaNp jaataa hai
Sometimes the wall shakes, sometimes trembles the door
on listening the name of Ali, the fort of Khaibar trembles even
now.
Note: During the fight for the Fort of Khaibar, Ali rooted out the
heavy door of the fort and used it as his shield.

Aa Bhi Ja Rut Badal Jayegi
aa bhii jaa rut badal jaayegii
chaaNdnii raat Dhal jaayegii
Come now [else] the climate would change
[and] this moon-lit night would pass.
ruKh sa pardaa haTaa liijiye
merii hasrat nikal jaayegii
Remove the veil from [your] face
[so that] my desire is fulfilled.
un ko le aao charaagaro
merii haalat sambhal jaayegii
Call her, O my sympathizers!
[and] my condition would improve.
tum na aao to Khat bhej do
kuch tabiiyat bahal jaayegii
If you are not coming, send a letter instead
[at least] I would feel better for some time.
hai pariishaaN sambhaalo zaraa
zulf ruKh pe machal jaayegii
Hold the restless tresses them for a while
[else] they would fall over the face.
tere bin chaaNdnii mere ghar
aaj aayii na kal jaayegii
Without you, moonlight in my house
came neither today nor it would tomorrow.
tere kuuche kii sarkash havaa
Khaak chehre pe mal jaayegii
Arrogant wind of your house
would blow dust at my face.
ai “Fana”! dil lagaa lo kahiiN
zindagii ruKh badal jaayegii
O “Fana”! fall in love [with someone]
[and] your life would change its direction.
