DESIRED CHASSIS

DESIGN FOR
2A3 HEADPHONE
POWER AMPLIFIER
1.OUTER DESIGN.
-Front
-Top
-Sides
-Back
Not Looking for a completely
open window though

Design that I'm trying to replicate/use as reference.

Instead of a window here on
the faceplate, I’m looking for
a pattern of holes just like
shown here on the lower
image
Overall the chassis will look somewhat like this, except for the fact that instead of
the big squares (as in this amp) it will be replaced by the smaller hole type
pattern, I had showed earlier.
Also on the front, there will be only a small 3mm hole for the power LED and
another hole for mounting the quarter inch TRS input jack; below the hole
pattern and in line in the centre. No buttons, switches or anything else.
The top can have venting pattern just like this but going further back.
Side Vents can be like this or
can be more simple; Like this:
Mr. Bakshi will be using a plate like this to mount the input/output ports, power
port, on/off switch and the fuse. Previously he used to make this panel in metal
but these days he’s using hard mdf or compressed wood.

We will need to give him a cut-out of his specified dimensions so that he can
mount the plate on the back.
My only request for the back is that if we can somehow make a recess area (as
shown here) for the mounting plate such that the inputs and terminals do not
protrude out of the chassis and its easy for me to lug the amp around in my car.
More examples of alternate
method of recessing.
2.INTERNAL DESIGN.
a. Chassis Frame
b. Mounting of
components (on
mounting plate)
A. CHASSIS FRAME:
Since the internal components will
be heavy and we are looking for
maximum robustness, I would
appreciate if we can have a frame
like design as shown in the images.
The top of the chassis can come
off as whole by unbolting the
screws on the sides (like in most
amps).

I’m looking for durability. If there’s something

else that would work better, we can definitely
discuss it.
B. MOUNTING OF THE COMPONENTS:
Instead of Mounting the
components onto the chassis
floor (as shown in the image
here on the left), Mr. Bakshi
will be mounting the
components onto a single
sheet of aluminium (2mm or
3mm thick), and then will be
mounting/fixing this plate
into/inside the chassis.
5 - 10cm

For Mounting the plate we can have a middle set of horizontal bars that will be 5-10cm from the
bottom of the chassis (so that there is enough space to put ones hands and tighten the plate
mounting screws). The middle set of bars can have angles/mounting extensions (and/or another set
of bars; labelled in green in the image above) for mounting the plate.
3.GENERAL POINTS
1. Overall Dimensions of the amplifier: to be finalised post discussion (Rough size: WxDxH – 450 x
600 x 350mm)

2. Material for chassis frame, top, bottom and back: Stainless steel (thickness to be discussed)

3. Material for mounting plate : Anodised Aluminium (2-3mm).

4. Size/position of ports/holes on the front and the cut-out for the port mounting plate: to be
discussed

5. Other components: as generally used by you.

I hope I could explain and give you a rough Idea for the design I want. Really appreciate your time
and effort in going through this document. Please let me know once you have read this so we
can discuss and finalise a design and go for the build.

Thank you Sir,

Warm Regards,

Geet Chadha
