International Standards are at the lower level of hierarchy, their contents, assumed as reference,
is developed and detailed within the Company Specifications considering the specific application
and the area of business in which Eni SpA is operating. On top of those there are the Local
Regulations, the Project Specifications than the Company Specifications. Any applicable local
mandatory rule prevails on this specification. Should there be a perceived conflict between this
standard and other referenced standards, or lack of clear definition as to the applicability of any
specification or standard, the Facilities Technical Units owner of the Standard, shall seek
guidance to the Standard Team.
2.1 DEFINITIONS
Reference to the Normative References from paragraph 1.3 will be made for definitions and
terminology.
The torque during starting shall be such as to allow the start of the motors even with terminal
strips voltages of 80%.
2.3.2.1 Windings
The windings shall be made of electrolytic copper.
b) Inside all boxes, both auxiliary and power type, a grounding terminal for the connection
of armoring, metallic shields and cable protection conductors (PE) shall be installed. For
the main terminal boxes, an earth bar shall be provided.
The motors shall not be cooled by means of liquid cooling media. Possible deviations shall be
subject to the approval of Company and shall follow the prescriptions indicated below.
Heat exchangers for air to water cooled motors shall have a 20% surplus number of tubes to
allow for plugging of leaking tubes over lifetime of motor. Heat exchangers shall have collection
trays to prevent water leaking onto vulnerable parts.
Water box/header construction shall be designed so:
- Leaking tubes can be readily plugged.
- All tubes are accessible for cleaning.
Provisions shall be made to:
- Allow draining of the heat exchanger.
- Allow the release of air trapped in heat exchanger during filling.
a) Bearings shall have a nominal life (or theoretical duration) calculated with the machine
operating under rated conditions of at least:
- 30.000 hours in the case of direct coupling and without any axial thrust from the
coupled machine
- 20.000 hours in the case of belt coupling.
In the case of machines with a variable speed, the above limits shall refer to the maximum
velocity.
b) It shall be possible to carry out the topping up of oil baths and greasing, as appropriate,
safely whilst the machine is in operation.
c) In the case of motors fed with variable speed drives, the bearing on the opposite side of
the drive shall be insulated to prevent the circulation of parasite currents between rotor
and casing.
2.3.2.6 Vibrations
The vibrations of motors shall be kept within limits anticipated in IEC 60034-14.
The insulation shall be qualified for use with the output characteristics of the Variable Speed
Drive, according to IEC 60034-18-42.
b) Nameplates
The identification nameplates of the motors and those carrying the electrical and construction
data, as indicated on IEC 60034-1 code, shall be made of stainless steel (AISI 316L) with wording
engraved and fixed to the enclosure by means of stainless steel (AISI 316L) pins.
3+3(spare) PT100 in the windings and 1+1(spare) PT100 in the bearings shall be provided.
